Stranded in India during the 1965 war: How I won friends among ‘enemies’

. .
ground realities are still the same. An average pakistani in India today will meet even more friendly people than in 60s. Even if there are hostilities on the border. I always remember a scene from the movie War horse. where to rescue to horse trapped in barbed wire in no man's land, two soldiers from rival armies (on war at the time) came together, rescued the horse and had a friendly chat with each other too.

Not really. An "average" Pakistani would find it very difficult to even get visa to come to India. Heck even American & British citizens of Pakistani origin have it tough, even more if they have dual nationality.

getting a visa is a different story. once in India, very little chance that one can be called out as a pakistani among crowd.

Trust me its not true.
Only a perception created by our hyperactive media on steroids.

Ground realities have changed after 26/11. Not just perception. It's why that family didn't get an hotel willing to accommodate them at short notice. Too much paperwork.....

That would be true of anyone who can pass themselves off as Indians but the realities & conditions for ordinary Pakistanis in India is onerous.
