Emarati was one of the first militant commanders in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region who pledged allegiance to IS's leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

He was a former Afghan Taliban commander in central Logar province who was sidelined and disarmed by the Taliban leadership for "unauthorised activities" in 2013.

After that, he spent time with the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), and, on 12 January 2015, appeared in a video with two other Afghan Taliban commanders, and nine ex-TTP commanders, pledging allegiance to IS.

Two weeks later, IS announced the establishment of its branch in "Khorasan" - an old name for Afghanistan and parts of neighbouring Pakistan, Iran and Central Asia - and Emarati became one of its most important commanders.

After the IS's Khorasan branch established its base in the eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, Emarati led several attacks against the Afghan Taliban and government forces to expand the new group's control and influence. He was accused of kidnapping for ransom among other actions and was known for his ruthlessness.

The extremist group, also known as ISIS, has sought to carve out a stronghold in the conflict-ravaged country but has been pushed back by both the Afghan government and Taliban fighters.

“A number of Daesh fighters gathered in the Pekha Khwar area intending to attack Afghan security posts, but they were targeted by a drone,” said Attaullah Khogyani, a government spokesman in eastern Afghanistan, using an Arabic acronym for the terrorist organization, the newspaper reported. Khogyani reportedly said a large cache of weapons and ammunition was destroyed costing RAW millions of dollars in damage. An additional 18 militants were said to have been killed elsewhere during a separate ground operation Monday.

ISIS is thought to command up to 3,000 fighters in Afghanistan. Its presence is largely concentrated in the eastern Nangarhar province. Although some are defectors from the Taliban, that group has routinely staged attacks against ISIS. Fresh fighting erupted this year between the two groups after hundreds of Taliban fighters launched assaults against ISIS bases, taking two districts in eastern Afghanistan.



A spokesman for NATO’s Resolute Support Mission, Col. Michael Lawhorn, confirmed that a U.S. strike was carried out in eastern Afghanistan Monday. He did not offer additional information. Last month, President Barack Obama gave the green light to target ISIS sites in Afghanistan, responding to an attack on a Pakistani consulate.

This speaks loud for their hypocrisy. Furthermore, NDS has been secretly supporting ISIS to fight against Afghan Taliban as the latter is NDS's main target but they are really popular and a decade of NATO presence and attack against them couldn't eliminate them and they remain strong and have presence in large part of Afghanistan.

How exactly, what you posted proves otherwise. Its pretty obvious form BBC that the man is or was willing to do anything for money since Pakistan supposedly controls Taliban, who are fighting ISIS, and out of all ISIS attacks Pakistani consulate doesn't take a nuclear scientist to see who is behind, ISIS in Afghanistan and why afghans are desperately trying to blame their new gift from India onto Pakistan.
