Description

The Advanced Composites Research Center at Air Weapons Complex has carried out extensive research on bullet-proof materials. Using indigenous technology, AWC has developed lightweight composite Bullet-proof Jackets and Helmets that provide exceptional battlefield protection. At the same time, the unique design features facilitate body and head movement while aiming, crawling and running.
The Bullet-proof Jackets and Helmets developed by AWC provide protection against ammunition according to NIG Standard 0101.03.

Bullet-Proof Helmet (Level III A)

Specific layers of biaxial woven kevlar fabric have been integrated in polymeric resin. The fabric/resin has been cured in a specific mould under high temperature and pressure for specific time duration. After de-molding, trimming and painting, webbing is attached to the Helmet.

Bullet-Proof Jacket (Level III A & Level III)

Specific layers of biaxial woven kevlar fabric have been stitched in diamond pattern. The trauma pack is an integral part of the ballistic insert. The assembly is stitched in water/moisture-resistant black plastic to maintain its ballistic properties. This effectively stops the 9mm bullet. The Jacket can stop the 7.62mm bullet after insertion of front and back laminated ceramic plate. The outer cover is made of washable 100% cotton camouflage twill.

advantages of kevlar fabric

* High tensile strength/modules
* High toughness
* Light weight
* Excellent retention of strength at elevated temperatures
* High thermal stability
* Self extinguishing
* Cut resistant
* Good chemical resistance

test firing

Bullet-Proof Helmet

The Helmet was fired at from a distance of 5m by 9mm caliber sub-machine gun ammunition at ballistic test facilities of Air Weapons Complex and Inspectorate of Armaments, Rawalpindi, in accordance with NIJ standard 0101.01. The Helmet stopped the bullet effectively. The average trauma effect was found to be within limits. The Helmet was also tested under wet conditions. The wet tests did not deteriorate the results.

Bullet-Proof Jacket

The Jacket was fired at from a distance of 5m by 9mm and 7.62mm caliber ammunition at ballistic test facilities of Air Weapons Complex and Inspectorate of Armaments, Rawalpindi, in accordance with NIJ standard 0101.01. The Jacket stopped both types of bullets effectively with nominal trauma effect.

Great start issueing them out to the paramilitaries and soldiers in FATA.

It really annoys me to see them with ye olde steel helmets dating back to WW2 or Vietnam war times.

. .
this should be provided to all the solilders right now immedietly,to whole army, either in the nwfp, areas and it should be standrised to all army, really i think,our army look likes the, old fahioned,world war11,style peoples,it should be done before,but,it is the need of hour, and, it should be,made, as the , real kits, of the soliders ,in thier basic training. and also where r the boots which can protect a soilder frm a land mine? plz add them also with some night vission,on the top of tht helmet, at least it, will make us a force which we can , at least depend on, biggst lesson, we should learn frm fromer iraqi army was tht they were nt well equiped the time us, went in, thanks from dahmed0

Sigh.......I see the usual "our army will now look like a western army stuff.......
This body army is primarily to stop shrapnel and other stuff. The next step is to provide the best medical care to ensure the soldiers who survive trauma, actually get taken care of after they survive.

.
keys is right the most important thing is how soon the soldier is treated after he has sustained trama. i think the logistics of this task is where the pakistan army is still lacking and something that we need to concentrate upon. this is why there are so less deaths in the US army in iraq compared to veitnam where it was very hard to get madi vac

.
sorry ,i dnt understand,wilco, as soon we, do tht may be we can save many soliders , captured or killed by the enemy ,with in our boders, or beyond, we should prepare now, in three years frm now you will be looking dangerous, situation,buddy, we prepare ourselves fr the worse, and hope allah , will give us the way.....?

Blame this on the Yank media. Ans pols. IIRC pre-Iraq US Army doctrine held that except for Level III vests (for shrapnel) body armour was useless in most cases, since it was irrelevant to soldier survival in most snearios. Have I got it right?

Any news on the digital camo? Chinese have done it already!

.
You know I am dissapointed with the army. They have once again restarted this camoflauge nonsence. Last time they did it was in the 70's and 80s, when we had a situation where the army units moved from one sector to another during an exersize found that there cameo did not work in the new enviroment. We have very varied terrain, and we need something that work well everywhere. Khaki dose that.

.
To me it seems from this point on that units from different areas will get a camo according to their needs. Just like the Chinese. For some it might look weird seeing a Chinese soldier wearing blue in certain exercise, but then if he is seen near the coastal areas, one will realize that they closely match their camo in that specific area.

.
What if they have to move during wartime? In 1965 Guides Cavalry fought in Kashmir, in India, in Punjab and in Rajestan, all in the same conflict.
