SSM Signed contract for 12 Caldiran UAV. First UAV to be delivered next week to southern-east part of Turkey, remaining 11 to be delivered with in 2 years. Total contract is 24 million USD.

Length: 5.5 m
Cruise Speed: 100 Knots
Endurance: 14 Hours
Flight Range: 1500 Km
Communication Range: 150 Km
Operational Altitude: 22,500 Feet


In janurary 2011 VESTEL has signed contract for 6 Karayel-II tactical UAV system for 20 million USD; first system to be delivered in 2012.

The UAV's are classified with different names in terms of the missions they are able to perform, altitude they are able to climb...etc. Caldiran and Karayel are tactical class UAV systems, While ANKA series UAV's are clasified as strategical class MALE-HALE UAV so Comparing them with eacother or choosing one as an alternative to another is not true...

Bayraktar improrved the stealth design along with new and completely domestic electronics, mission computer, software which enables the UAV to provide better aerodynamic performance and mission success. The new design has 3 spare auto-plot, new propulsion and next generation GPS/INS systems added. The Trials of new design was finished in August 2012 and She is ready now for serial production.

New Mini Tactical UAV's are seen on this image along with Tactical Caldiran UAV.

New Tactical UAV is capable of closing the landing gears.

Am I the only one who gets the feeling that Caldiran UAV's camera systems are a bit shaky. Is this normal? If not, is this the result of a small aircraft frame?

Phucking annoying, all should be delivered by now but we are yet to receive a single one.

Not that much of delay. According to mile stones on Baykar website they have started the contract of the modified Caldiran on January 2012.

Apparently, Vestel is ahead. and 70 kg payload of Karayel II is promising, too!
