Sri Lanka’s pivot to India breaks China’s dreams

Lets say we Indians say the same, Srilanka is a curse for India's toe (literally you are such a small country), then whose side God will take? A few millions or 1.2 Billion :)

Ps: Having travelled to Colombo a few times, I personally feel Sri Lanka is a friendly neighbour and Modi government may just have regained the trust lost between us during the earlier decade.

God doesn't exist.

Ok.. There are few things to be made clear here for both Indian and Chinese posters commenting on this essentially a domestic issue for Sri Lanka

Indians.. Despite a troll here who just happen to be a fan boy of the ousted Rajapaksa regime, Generally Sri Lankans do not have a bad view of Indians per se.. At most majority of the people are just indifferent, Politicians of Tamil Nadu and other separatist actors are a different proposition and will always be a issue of contention in Indo/Lanka bilateral relations,

So dont just judge a whole nation from a few posters on a internet forum

Now the new government in Sri Lanka won a mandate on good governance and anti corruption.. Also they wanted to set the foreign policy back on track, During the previous regime the country totally fcuked up the foreign service and diplomacy by appointing thier family members and coterie in to vital officers.. They completely neglected bilateral relations with the west and the neighborhood.. So now they're trying to reset the nonaligned policy that a strategic yet small country like Sri Lanka can ill afford to loose

Indians need to realize even though Indo/Lanka relations will and have improved under the new govt it will NEVER be at the cost or detriment of the very close ties Lanka have had historically with Pakistan, China and Japan, Thier closest allies.. As the new president said India is our neighbor but China is our ally

The Modi government have been excellent in progressive foreign policy towards Sri Lanka and the relationship will progress but the hyper bole Indian media and self proclaimed analysts should refrain from getting thier panties in a twist every time Mr Modi farts.. Let the man prove himself

The port city project is continuing no two questions about it, And suspending it had nothing to do with Indian influence but because most of the large investment granted under the previous regime is suspected to have been under huge corruption and bypassing laws and regulations so they need to clear these up, It's not only Chinese funded projects but even Indian investments like the Tata residential complex one of the largest Indian investments are under hold pending clearances

Chinese... The new government on a mandate on anti corruption, So this project came under scrutiny because there were so many issues regarding environmental clearances and other regulations.. There are a number of injunctions in courts regarding the project by civil groups NOT by the SL govt.. So these issues need to be cleared but as it stands the project will go on and by the news i'm getting from Colombo is the construction of the beakwaters are on full swing

Resetting the non aligned foreign policy does not mean alienating robust Sino lanka relations.. Now there are elements in the new govt that are pro West.. That is needed to counter the massive propaganda and action in the UN and through INGO's that the separatists and remnants of the LTTE in the West were very successful during the last regime, Because they totally alienated that vital aspect.. Sri Lanka was at a precarious situation diplomatically because of that, We need all the support we need East or West

India is our closest neighbor, biggest country in the region, with close cultural ties and the biggest trading partner.. So Given SL position in global politics they cant ignore those aspects if Sri Lanka looks to develop political stability and it's economy.. I think most prudent Chinese posters here would understand that

I hope this might clear certain things up.. cheers

What a laugh, even funnier that you believe the shit that you spout out so liberally.

Where did it resume? The last I heard, the SL authorities denied Chinese claims.
SL CONTRADICTS REPORTS THAT CONTSRUCTION RESUMES FOR PORT CITY.
Please post any further developments, this time not Chinese as they would seem to be unreliable at best.

Is this true! The port project still remains stalled?

. .
Yes it is stalled under the orders of Sri Lanka's PM Ranil Wickremasinghe. He basically licks Indian and US balls.

But few days back there were reports that the project resumed? Please forgive me if I am mistakened.

. .
Nope didn't resume.

Licking India's balls. That's what SL's PM does.

Wow would have been such an awesome project if it had been completed.

Hope the construction resumes soon
