Ceremonies to open Sri Lanka’s first Highway

Many ceremonies have been organized coincide with the opening ceremony of Sri Lanka’s first ever expressway on 19th and 20th and among them, a game (walking competition) too have been organized, said Nirmala Kotalawala, Deputy Minister of Ports and Highways.

Speaking to the Asian Mirror, minister said that contesters could enter through all eight entry points to the highway and walk through the highway. Further said the program has been organized with the assistance of villagers.

At the moment Sri Lanka doesn't need 3 lanes, why we waste our lands in this tiny Island?

It took 4-5 years to complete. yep there are some expressway projects under construction, about to finish in end of 2012/2013.
