SRI LANKAN AIR CHIEF DUE TO DISCUSS DEAL ON JF-17 AIRCRAFT
Liaqat Toor

Friday, October 09, 2015 - Islamabad—Taking keen interest to purchase multipurpose JF-17 Thunder aircraft from Pakistan, Sri Lankan Air Force Chief Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala will arrive here next month to further pushing the deal, diplomatic sources said.

A co-production of Pakistan and China, the fighter aircraft have participated successfully in world’s reputed air shows including the recently held in Paris, attracting buyers from Asia and Africa due to its performance and competitive price tag. Myanmar has already clinched a deal while negotiations with other potential buyers are in progress.

Besides holding meetings with Pakistan authorities, he will call on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman.

Negotiations on number of planes Sri Lanka is interested to purchase and their financial aspects are in final stages, diplomatic sources said.

But the possibility is that they might go with Russian Yak-130s or may be they should try out with some used F-16s

PAF officials have confirmed the purchase from an asian country (they didn't mention the numbers of fighter and country name)

but experts claim that it is Burma which will buy 1 squadron of 16 JF17 bock 2 fighter jet
That asian country is Burma only period but due to Rohingas crises Pakistan and china kept the news of the confirmation hidden for long. Its true that China wants to increase its arms market and not only did he have presented great range of weapons with competetive price and doing agressive marketing and for FC-1 pakistan is helping him, but in reality FC-1 won't find much order till PLAAF inducted it himself. At present it is giving only the image of the replacement of J-7 but whats needed is to present the replacement option for MIG-21.

Srilanka have small airforce around 150 nos, and did need the replacement of mig-27, but I don't think they are going for that soon because they have other priority at the moment, and there is no immediate thread to the country. China have long trying to sell FC-1, but till now no FC-1 is flown to Srilanka for the display. In future Srilanka might opt for it, but there will be competition from MIG-29 SMT.

Well guys, I can gaurantee you the deal is done because the production here at JF-17 has been multiplied and personnel are going through double and tripple shifts to make the production faster.

And who are you on the first hand ? Does the production level is the gauge of the confirm order ? Does all PAF's JF-17 block 2 have been delivered ?

PAC was constructing around 1 JF-17 Thunder in 90 days, now with extra shifts they are maintaining the target to construct around 3 JF-17s in 90 days. What more do you need for a confirmation.
