SRI LANKAN AIR CHIEF DUE TO DISCUSS DEAL ON JF-17 AIRCRAFT

Friday, October 09, 2015 - Islamabad—Taking keen interest to purchase multipurpose JF-17 Thunder aircraft from Pakistan, Sri Lankan Air Force Chief Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala will arrive here next month to further pushing the deal, diplomatic sources said.

A co-production of Pakistan and China, the fighter aircraft have participated successfully in world’s reputed air shows including the recently held in Paris, attracting buyers from Asia and Africa due to its performance and competitive price tag. Myanmar has already clinched a deal while negotiations with other potential buyers are in progress.

Besides holding meetings with Pakistan authorities, he will call on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman.

Negotiations on number of planes Sri Lanka is interested to purchase and their financial aspects are in final stages, diplomatic sources said.

It is Burma and Sri Lanka who are going to buy this as per my recent talk with one PAF officer.

The Burma deal is now in advanced stages, we may see something "tangible" in an year or two coming out as a result of that deal. The Sri Lankan purchase is not "officially confirmed", yet! However it do makes sense if Sri lanka goes for a couple of squadrons of JF-17. For Pakistan, it will be another great news!

actually china will deliver FC-1 with 50% share of earnings coming to Pakistan. remember the co-marketing JV.

at some point they will purchase the FC-1. it fits their requirements to upgrade from F-7.

FC-1 and JF-17 are the same thing. FC-1 is assembled in Chengdu China whearas JF-17 in Kamra Pakistan. Pakistani aircraft are required to replace our aging Mirage and F-7 fleet. hence at present export would be through Chine. After fulfilling requirement of PAF Pakistan would start exporting these aircrafts directly with greater profit earnings.
