A night market on the lines of 'China Town' now operating in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong is to be set up in Hambantota on the initiative of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
Once it is set up, the market will be open to the public from 9am to 4am the following day on a daily basis, Rajapaksa said.
He said 1,000 local and foreign traders will be invited to put up shop at the market to sell their products and wares.
A large number of customers including employees attached to the Mattala Airport, Hambantota Port, proposed IT park, residents and visitors to the region are expected to patronise the facility, he added.
