Sri Lanka Starts Taxi Service with Tata Nano Cars
Nano Cabs (Pvt) Ltd launched the 24 hour nano cab taxi service with a fleet of 25 cabs to provide reliable convenient and affordable taxi service to the public.
Addressing the launching ceremony of the Nano Cabs taxi service, Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala said the newly introduced cab service will shift the paradigm of local transport services to new heights making travel more hassle free, safer, and economical and secure to the local and foreigner customers.
“With tourism booming, the demand for cabs has been rising in the country. We are committed to offer quality transport service for visitors adhering to international cab services standards,” Sumathipala said.
Sumathipala said Nano Cabs is on the look out to expand the present fleet up to 200 cabs before the end of this year.
At present, the company has managed to purchase 200 cabs with a total investment of Rs 300 million and second batch of the cabs will be released to the road once the requirement of enough drivers are fulfilled.
At the initial stage, Nano cabs service will be confined to Colombo citizens and will expand its service islandwide later.
All Nano cars will have state of art vehicle tracing system with video monitoring facility. All cars will have with latest navigation system with total GPRS two way communication capacity.
Passengers will also be entitled to pay the destination fees through credit cards.
