Care to elaborate on the difference? And on the difference China/Taiwan or China/Vietnam or China / Phillippines (image IN sending Chakra there). I would be more wary of China since I'm seeing more territorial issues with neighboring countries around China (concerning resources) than with neighboring countries of India. And Colombo is almost (though not quite India's territorial waters.

To be honest dont know whther they are nuclear subs. Even if they are i dont think SL officials will let it matter to india's defence concerns. Our gover wouldnt destabilize already a stable relationship. I dont think SL invite those subs, mainly when they come SL do not reject. BUt i dont think it will happen again.

which area were you in? upthere in north? 97-98 we had faced heavy battles and suicide missions.

well, I'd really like to know what kind of subs, and more importantly, what sort of missiles and what payload they were carrying.. it's not a small deal if it was carrying nuclear weapons, you should understand that.. in fact it should be more of a concern for the country hosting such a weapons platform than a jittery neighbour.... again, these are nukes we're talking about !

and if they're just taking stores, refueling etc.. which part of the world are they off too ? to symbolically prop Iran and Syria in the middle east or just to needle India showing how blue water they've gone ?

I was in matttakuliya? just north(I think) of Colombo main city, half an hour's bus ride back in 97-98.. comodo (kabrya?) dragons everywhere lol, it was cool

that is unlike china and vietnam or cuba and US,,SL and India maintain very good relationships. Actually recent times SL and India both during war and now under Modi has developed good diplomatic relationships.

Even at the lowest point of india-SL relations it has never been the same as cuba and us or china/vietnam..

As you said it can be a concern for SL too if they are hosting nukes, i think SLG is trying to balance china.
