SRI LANKA PRESSES AHEAD WITH NEW FIGHTER PLANS

IF that is so, why is Su 30 mki availability lower then 60% on duty. Mig 29 develops structural cracks . Confirm the info pls.

@WOW_FACTOR
well that is simply because there are a lot of spares that are still being imported from russia and in some cases these spares used to come from ukraine as well. Now russia's ability to provide us those spares in time has severely degraded after recent economic downturn. They simply cant provide all the consumables in time. There is a solution- and that is to indigenize as many spares as possible. But then again, which indian company will be willing to take risk?

Exactly, but please note that Indian companies can only take initiative when Russians give the blue prints for spare parts. which I highly doubt there sincerity towards . Russians Robonex exports is a Cartel with the worst professional culture. Tata, Mahindra have the technical capability to make better quality of spares as imported. But why do we need to be hanging by thread due to Russians attitude.

 that's a one sweeping statement. What makes you think they have? Probably you should have asked our Bangladeshi friends who just received brand new BG version a couple of years ago. J-7 is the fund magnet for small countries which can't invest in setting up new infrastructure for new and modern fighters. Chinese have kept transferring capabilities from other programs to J-7 to keep it alive and shining for 3rd world countries
yup and it was formerly announced by the ones delivering it(CAC, the ones who developed thunder) that they would no longer offer new aircrafts..not me...unllike most people think its not easy to keep a production facility running for an obsolete ac ...

google it..

It still exist.

JL-9G line.jpg

It can be convert into fighter jet if needed with ease. The best part is its twin seat, meaning training and intergration of new pilots is very easy.

.
Is this a new variant coming ? BAF F7PGs all r having frontal air intake ...where does this JL-9G fit in ?

It is consider as advance trainer. Of cos China with J-10 is not going to make this into a front line fighter. But this trainer can be convert into fighter with ease. With side in airtake, the house can house a bigger radar compare to J-7. It can fit the budget of small airforce.

why not go for jf 17 if someone want budget fighter with more support and weapons integrated

Its an open tender, would be good to see a proper consideration with JF-17 one of the options. It has good prospect to be selected on merit and since its a proper competition, it would be easier for the Srilankans to defend their decision if any objections raised by any other country.

When Srilanka bought Pakistan made small arms and rifles, India had submitted a white paper and objected that they are pron to jamming and are not reliable. Srilankan's had done a proper evaluation and had tested the weapons against competitors so they were un phased and stuck to the acquisition which turned out really good for them and they received much needed weapons at affordable rates to battle the Tamil Tigers.

JF-17 Block-2/3 both are very competitive and hopefully they will prove them self well.

sorry to confuse you but i was comparing jf 17 with JL-9G

Tejas is not a option for SLAF

JAS 39 GRIPEN is best suitable for SLAF but at cost

MIG 29 is aging technology and a bit heavy duty for SLAF

JF 17 offers both reliability and price under their budget issue is india

Srilankan can't keep timeline at one pot had to decide it needs india who support Tamil. Tigers or Pakistan who help srilankan unparallel

JF-17 has no twin seat and this JL-9 price tag is even far more lower price tag. Of cos, JF-17 is far more advanced but its target customer is small African nation who dont need complicated electronic and datalink. With very limited budget.

JL-9 is a trainer competitor for L-15. Based on FT-7PG, it has newer variant capable of carrier operations. Its much inferior to the JF-17.
China uses it for aircraft carrier landing take off training. I dont think China will submit it as they will be putting bets on JF-17.
