Sri Lanka Premier League to be aired live in 80 countries
The inaugural edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League which will be played from August 11 - August 31, 2012 in Sri Lanka will be broadcasted live in 80 countries.
The tournament will be broadcasted live by many network channels including ESPN & STAR Sports, Geo Super, CRIC ONE, GTV and Media Net.
ESPN will broadcast the matches in the UK and Ireland on TV, plus online highlights. In the US, Latin America and the Caribbean.
ESPN & STAR Sports will telecast the show in India, while Geo Super will air it in Pakistan,
CRIC ONE in the Middle East, GTV in Bangladesh and Media NET in Maldives.
Asian Television Network International has secured rights to air the matches in Canada.
CSN will air the tournament in Sri Lanka.
YouTube is expected to conduct live streaming of the inaugural edition of the SLPL.
Meanwhile Sport Solutionz of India won the rights to distribute the global TV Rights for the Inaugural SLPL.
The tournament features seven provincial teams at two venues: R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. All together 24 matches including two semifinals and a final will be played in the three- week period.
Each team will be allowed a maximum of six overseas players in their squad and four in their playing XI.
In addition to the local cricket stars, including Tilakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Lasith Malinga and Mahela Jayawardena, international stars Shivnaraine Chanderpaul from West Indies, Shahid Afridi and Misbah Ul Haq from Pakistan, Tim Southee and Nathan McCullum from New Zealand, Albie Morkal from South Africa and Dirk Nannes from Australia will be playing alongside with the locals.
