The sri Lankan Muslims are a poor unarmed minority
Sri Lankan Muslim community is far from poor, As a matter of fact they are a well to do community famous for being good business men, Especially the Moors.. It is also a reason for Sinhalese extremists to spread jealousy among it's followers
I dont think societies that run on Religious theocracies have little idea of how truly multi cultural/Multi ethnic countries work.. So best refrain from making generalizations based on your personal experiences
You can see a microcosm of whats happening in Sri Lanka and around the world in this thread as well.. One one side you get Non Lankan's trying to generalize a whole country just because of some Utopian Muslim Ummah they think they belong to, Fortunately vast majority of Lankan Muslims still hold their patriotism above any foreseen religious brotherhood
And they you see the gutter racism of a Sinhalese Buddhist extremist that try to condone this disgusting mob violence by some inbreds led by notorious political monks working at the behest of communal politicians in the island especially from the former regime by blaming Muslims
How the feck can the whole Lankan Muslim community be blamed over a death of a person owing to a case of road rage ??? Would these dickheads go on rampage if the four accused of battery were drunk Sinhalese rather than four drunk Muslims as it turned out to be ??
The current govt has yet again failed at their duty to it's citizens.. It's people are yet to see themselves as Sri Lankans not Muslim, Tamils and Sinhalese
Community leaders from both sides need to get together and sort this out before this turn out to be another 30 years of bloodshed, Sinhalese need to come out of their minority mindset of fear mongering and reign in Terrorist's pretending to be monks.. Muslims need to ask why they're trying to segregate themselves from the wider community with recent alien cultures from the deserts of Arabia, Away form the society that for thousands of years have accepted them with open arms and lived side by side.. And both sides need to kick out the fecking communal politicians fanning the flames from both sides for their political survival
Sri Lanka's state religion being Buddhism has not affected laws
Correction.. Sri Lanka does not have a state religion, The constitution merely states that Buddhism be protected by the state, Since it is the faith of the majority of the population.. Nowhere does it say other religions are subordinate and have the same rights as Buddhists
