Sri Lanka: Police inaction as Muslim shops torched by Buddhists

Why is that from Myanmar to Srilanka to India to entire west, Muslims become target for hatred. Obviously there is something Muslims are doing that irate other communities.

for sure. that's why i said I don't like mob mentality in my first post. our state and law enforcement should take appropriate actions but the problem is the government is incompetent and useless. there was a muslim politician destroying a national park in the recent years to house muslim villagers and nothing was done about it.

LOL tamils make up 10% of the country. they would have been defeated sooner or later. let's be realistic. sri lanka also allowed you to use its air bases to refuel to attack india and pakistan arms imports were always there since 1980s and what made the difference in the latest war was some changes done to infantry tactics and political will to keep the war going isntead of bowing down to international pressure.

This is why I have always felt it is vital muslim communities be in a position to defend themselves one way or the other

The same goes for in india

As a minority what will you do when the state including police cant, won't or even worse colludes in attacking you


The same thing happened in both india and burma

You have Bangladeshis and indian muslims jumping around pointing fingers at Pakistan

Would you suggest a similar tactic for sects who feel threatened in a Muslim dominated country too? This is a law and order issue which flared up after a Buddhist was killed by a group of Muslim. Things will die down after couple of days.

The government has enforced martial order in the affected areas and everything is under control now. The attacks were due to the death of Sinhala man by a gang of Muslims and it would be investigated by the police.

And the Government must also take action against radicalization of Muslims and ban the loons like Thawheed Jammath and remove the Muslim Marriage and Divorce act.

Sure everyone else should be able to defend themselves if attacked especially if law and order, police, politicians refuse to do so including in Pakistan

These people are at risk, you have hindutvas in india, buddists extremists in sri lanka and burma and a unarmed minority muslim community

People like the hindus have 1000 years of hangups and psychological issues re muslims so when these attacks occur people like indian muslims automatically become the enemy and blamed for their own persecution
Without access to weapons or a strategy and without police protection they face the fate of any unarmed minority

That still does not give mob the right to take justice in their own hands.Whether anyone is Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, at the end of the day they are all srilankans and have equal rights. If a national park is being destroyed, again its the state who will have to decide if its legal or illegal and not some bunch of goons burning shops.
