Sri Lanka Navy rescues a seriously-injured Chinese Citizen in Indian Ocean

Sri Lanka Navy rescued a seriously-injured crew member of a Chinese Merchant Ship in the Eastern deep seas in the early hours today (11th July 2010). The patient of Chinese nationality had been in need of immediate medical assistance due to the serious injuries sustained while on board MV “Full Comfort” which was sailing from India to Brazil on the international shipping lane close to Sri Lanka.

In response to the request made by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Navy immediately dispatched two fast Naval vessels with a medical team last night to rescue the injured crew member.

The Chinese Merchant Ship was located 80 kilometers north-east of Trincomalee and the patient was rushed ashore on board a Naval vessel with medical assistance being provided on the way. He was taken to the Naval Hospital at the Trincomalee Naval Base for emergency medical care and later, transferred to the Trincomalee Base Hospital for further medical treatment.

Since this Chinese person got injured in the INDIAN ocean then it must be committed by an INDIAN person since India always claimed that the Indian Ocean belonged to them.

No need to bring India here.

LOL.

Whenever a Chinese ship passes through the Indian Ocean, India make a big fuzz.....now India wants to stay out of trouble when a Chinese citizen got seriously injured in the Indian claimed Ocean.

Why are u adamant on bringing in India's name in everything. Nowhere its said there is any involvement of India. Hundreds of merchant ships pass through Indian ocean everyday.

I am ashamed you cant understand the context of the article and debate accordingly.

Explain the term "Indian claimed ocean too"..

Indian ocean doesnt belong to India. Its just the name of the Ocean.

There are maritime boundaries and lots of countries have claim on it.

Hope this helps

Those pictures are so heart warming.

Definitely makes one wonder about the recent news of poor Indian fishermen being killed by the Sri Lankan navy personnel. What a contradiction?
