SL should actually thank India. By voting for the resolution India actually helped Sri Lanka more than any of the countries that voted against it. The resolution would have passed regardless of whether India voted for or against it, any US led resolution would unless it's in the UNSC where China/Russia can veto it. The fact that India amended the resolution to make it less intrusive would be more helpful to the SL govt. than had India stayed out of it or voted against it. And the transfer of the island was not ratified by two houses of parliament - so it is illegal and we can expect a favorable verdict from supreme court. And the congress govt can't get it ratified now in the parliament claiming better relationship with SL. The coalition politics are holding them by the balls.
