The Locomotive Engine Operators’ Union (LEOU) have from Monday night withdrawn from operating trains having Chinese compartments because of a fault in their brake system.

LEOU Secretary Indika Dodangoda said this matter was brought to the notice of the General Manager Railways (GMR) and the Ministry during the tenure of the previous government.
“Some 100 Chinese-made compartments have been added to the train service. The GMR assured us he will not file any charge sheet in case of an accident because of the use of such compartments. However, after this government took office, the authorities have filed charge sheets for all previous accidents caused because of the use of such compartments,” he said.
Mr. Dodangoda said there were about 200 incidents reported because of the malfunctioning brake system.


He said as a result of similar trade union action launched previously, the railway administration gave an assurance to replace the current brake system but however, no action had been taken as yet.

Its Chinese crap. Part and parcel of China's neo colonialism. They sign secret contracts whose details can never be published. They then pay vast backhanders to top government personnel. These personnel are completely secure in the knowledge that China being a single party totalitarian state will never let freedom of information regarding the contracts to see the light of day.
Then they supply absolute rubbish from their overproduction from the sunset industries. They obviously give you vast amounts of Credit to ensure you will buy this rubbish.
When you cannot pay the vast amounts lent to you they demand ports lands airports and bases.
Pakistan has whole fleet of Chinese engines that just fell apart in a few months, but they are lumbered with those loans and now cannot run even a fourth world railway system.

Well it happened with Pakistan as well. During Musharraf's period locomotive were bought from china and cracks started to appear just after few months. After that Railway opted to buy GE's locomotives from US.

they were very old second-handed engines that required a lot of maintenance, same as those ones here.

china is going full overhead line electric high speed, they have plenty of old ones to throw away. when you buy em you know what you are getting. what do they expect?

CRRC, the world's no.1 rolling stock company, its products are all around the world, including USA, Europe, SEA, Australia, Latin America, everywhere, not to mention all the HSR EMUs on our 40,000km HSRs, and numerous locomotives/carriages on our another 100,000km regular railways, which including one of the most advanced heavy-haul technology for our freight trains which cross continents and covers tens of thausands of miles.

China has more railway than any countries in the world today and they are high speed some more.

If these tales are true, then the entire railway system in China has broken down.

Another thing China HSR railways are very smooth. Even a coin can remain stationery at 300 kph meaning less vibration.
