Sri Lanka & BRICS signs pact to step up cooperation: Breaking News
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Chamber for Promotion and Economic Development of the BRICS group of countries.
The agreement is aimed at promoting an identified range of products/services between Sri Lanka and BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and facilitate alliances on reciprocal basis, CCC said today.
Through the project, Sri Lanka will promote apparel, gems and jewellery, rubber products, spices, tea and tourism, while BRICS will focus on promoting cosmetics, diamonds, emeralds, food and beverages, fresh oranges, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and tourism, it added.
The Chamber also announced that it will host the 13th Sri Lanka Economic Summit, themed "positioning Sri Lanka in the global economy", in July.
The aim of the summit is to identify and address future economic and commercial issues in order to develop appropriate strategic plans, it said.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce through its specialised committees, affiliated associations and 21 bilateral business councils promotes international business.
Its members serve on various institutions and committees set up by the government and the private sector.
