Sri Lanka bans 4 Indian drug companies

The Cosmetics Devices and Drugs Control Authority has decided to ban four Indian companies which supply drugs to Sri Lanka.

Cosmetics Devices and Drugs Control Authority Director Dr Hemantha Beneragama said that the four companies had supplied low quality drugs to Sri Lanka.


He said that the drugs are also unsafe, have side effects and do not serve its purpose.
Dr Beneragama said that the Authority has decided to remove the drugs supplied by those companies which are now in local pharmacies.


He added that a special team will be sent to Hyderabad to meet officials of a factory of another Indian drugs manufacturer who had supplied low quality drugs to Sri Lanka.

Dr Beneragama said that the Cosmetics Devices and Drugs Control Authority has received complaints about 12 drugs suppliers in India and Indonesia.


A special team will be sent to those companies and reports will be submitted in due course.

Four Indian drug supplying companies have been banned and blacklisted in Sri Lanka by the Health Ministry for supplying substandard drugs continuously, the Ministry said.

The companies were identified as Laborate, Vivek, Bafna and Elysium Pharma.
 
Good. These fly by night operators are giving Indian Pharmaceutical industry a bad name. Hope Indian authorities too hit them with a sledgehammer.
 
i am amazed why these unknown cos to Indians as well got access to foreign markets access in 1st place
 
Ummmm and why were their supplies were accepted in first place ??? No QC ???
I never heard the name of any of these companies.
