No mate. Most of the ships that use the Shipping lane are going to and from East Asia and Australia to Europe and Middle East. Not many ships bound to the Eastern sea board of India are passed to the south of Sri Lanka. Therefore the Sethu Samudra project gives no real benefit to Sri Lanka. It will only destroy the fragile eco-system in Palk strait.

Don't think that it will not help indirectly you will get Lot of Benefit,
also You can charge Like Panama Canal, also It's very easy for SL Ships can Deliver goods Easily from that port to ME and LA and EU,
You can save at least 1000M or 1000KM and time.
