Sri Lanka 2012 victory Day Parade

Members of Sri Lanka's military took place in a "Victory Day" parade Saturday to mark the defeat of Tamil Tiger separatists in a 25-year civil war.

The parade took place in the capital Colombo and there was also a two-minute silence in memory of 24,000 security force personnel who died during the near conflict, which ended in 2009, Sri Lanka's defense ministry said on its website.

In an address to the nation, President Mahinda Rajapakse said he still could not dismantle military camps in the former Tamil Tiger-controlled areas, the AFP news service reported.

There was a mounted unit after President's car so are they a regular unit.....like Indian PBG's which is a Household Cavalry regiment(PBG's are the senior most unit in IA)

In Sri Lanka President's security belongs to PSD (Presidents Security Division), their only job is providing security to SL President.

Tamils percentage is incorrect, Northern Sri Lanka it's around 7-8%.
In the eastern province, Tamil percentage is around 36-37% in that area. Sinhalese also have similar percentage and also Moors has similar percentage.
Even some Indian Tamilnadu members wipe crocodile tears here, First group (dutch era) does have differences between second Tamil group (British era), any Tamil who is holding "Indian Tamil" tag knows the difference.
