Spread of Wahhabism was done at request of West during Cold War – Saudi crown prince

I quote a good commentator from one of the sites I usually read from:

Shia-Sunni divide is political. Religions are socio-economic systems tied to economy.

Islam’s cleavage of Fatimite (now Shia, Alevi, Ismali) & Umarite (now Sunni, Wahabbi) is same as Republicans/Demos in Athens. Of 1.6+ Billion Muslims over 1.2B+ are Umarites, 250-400M Fatimites.

Like Socrates in Athens, Mohammed, a small businessman in 7th century Trading Arabia faced his Demos - Big Business Umayyads, Bankers Banu Abbas, Trade Monopolists infidels, and Tribe of Judah. Socrates’ lost to Democracy but Mohammed defeated his Demos with a superior socio-economic package and set up a Secular Republic with rights for all.

Mohammed won with timely Christian help.

[5:82] Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Yehud and infidels; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Nazarenes (Christians)" ..

After him Islam split politically in 2.

A: pro-Christian, Medinan Majority wanting to continue Mohammed's Secular Socratic Republic - pro-Woman, pro-Progress, pro-Peace, helping poor and weak, led by his daughter Fatima.

B: Anti-Christian, miniscule Meccan Male Moneyed Minority wanting Theocratic Kaliphate – anti-Woman, anti-poor, anti-Progress, anti-Peace, for conquest and colonialism, neocons led by his companion Umar, whose minority won with strong arm tactics.

Fatima died/was murdered within 70 days. The Kaliphate undid all Mohammedan reforms – Universality, Peace, Women’s rights, Justice, Meritocracy, Free Enterprise and Free Trade.

Fatimites kept alliance with Christians while anti-Koranic anti-Mohammedan Umarites terrorized them both and controlled world trade with Tariffs (Arabic Kaliphate word) till Christians found new routes to Asia ending Umarite monopoly of living off others.

Fatimites and Christians have never had a fight between them while the Umarites did. Lately Christians destroyed 3 Sunni Empires: Spain, Ottoman, Mughal (and created Israel). Sunnis blame that Shia helped Christians (they did), so Umarites have "scores to settle" with both.

A Fatimite Mustafa bin Ali Reza (Ataturk) buried Umarite Kaliphate, him and another Fatimite Jinnah founded secular Republics in Turkey and Pakistan.

Islamists today fight not in Mohammed's name but Umar Farooq al Khattab now a patron saint of jihadi terror. Mulla Umar, Sheikh Umar, Khattab in Chechnya, Umarov in Dagestan, Farooq Training Camps ... But ISIS Umarite Kaliphate was defeated by Christian-Fatimite alliance of Russia and Iran.

As China re-opens New Silk Road with BRI, Europe and Asia found it necessary to ethnically cleanse ME of anti-trade Sunni Kaliphate lovers so as not to have an encore. Today, to safeguard the Silk Road routes, they have turned core ME into majority trade loving Shia who also sit on all ME water and oil (even in Saudi Arabia)

Your win at cost of ordinary Muslims children, Woman, Young, Old peoples blood shed and dead bodies. Take that victory in your a..s......

Deobandis are Salafis.

There is no such thing as Wahabbism.

That is an outsider's term.

It just Sunni Islam. The hardcore Sunnis are called Salafis.

Ever been to Saudi Arabia? The Saudis say Wahabbism is an outsider's term.

It is just Sunni Islam.

Deobandis are Salafis?

According to the best of my knowledge, Deobandis are Ashaaris who follow the Hanafi Fiqh. Deobandis are certainly not Salafis. Sufiism is considered shirk by the Salafis whereas quite a few of the Deobandi Ulema were not averse to Tasawwuf.

Are Wahhabis Sunnis?

Primary difference between Sunnis & Shias was on the question of succession to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), on this basis Wahhabis are certainly Sunnis since they follow Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal and consider the first Khalifas i.e. Abu Bark (RA), Omar (RA) & Osman (RA), along with Ali (RA) as rightly guided Caliphs. Also that Hazrat Usman (RA) was unjustly martyred.

Wahhabi is indeed an outsider term. Abdul Wahab followed the jurisprudence as expounded by Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal and the other beliefs are virtually identical to that of Salafi School advocated by Ibn Taymiyyah. Nevertheless, Wahhabi is an accepted term used by Muslims outside Saudi Arabia as well as the West when referring to the follower of Abdul Wahab. No different from the Deobandis & Braelvis of the subcontinent, even though these are sub-sects of the Sunnis and both follow Hanafi Jurisprudence.

lol you are confusing Deobandis and Barelvis. Deobandis are against Sufism and Barelvis embrace sufism.
Besides that,
Deobandis have accepted Salafi beliefs now.

The old deobandis used to say Hanafi.

But now the Deobandis embrace Salafi beliefs.

The Salafism is the mainstream Sunni Islam.

Not those subsects like Barelvism or Deobandism.
But now Deobandis accept Salafi beliefs or Ahl-e-Hadith beliefs.

Original mentor of the founders of Deoband School, Shah Waliullah Dehlavi was a Sufi as well. During my visit to Delhi about 20 years back, among other places, I also visited his Dargah which is located near Turkman Gate not far from the famous Chandni Chowk.

Other Deobandi scholars whose life I have studied such as Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi and Maulana Rashid Ahmed Gangohi (one of the founders of Deoband) were also Sufis. Maulana Shabbir Ahmed Usmani, who led the funeral prayers of Quaid e Azam, was a Sufi too. Admittedly these Deobandi Ulema believed that Tareeqa without Sharia is unacceptable (A statement attributed to Maulana Gangohi.)

I was not aware that Dar ul Uloom Deoband has changed their Maslak from Hanafi to Salafi (followers of Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal). However, there are lots of things in this world that I am not aware of and you could be right.

Only Allah knows who is right and who is wrong. Historian wrote both versions i.e. in favor of you and against you. We are not present at that time so we are unable to predict which one was right and which one was wrong. It is better for you to through mud on enemies of Muslim Nation i.e. Israel, USA instead of custodian of two Holy Mosques. As a Pakistani Nation, we are ready to protect our Holy Places at any cost which you people even can't imagine. Bayṫ al-Maqdis is also occupied by Israel, go there and show your bravery. Israelis are violating your air space through F 35 and you are unable to do any thing.

No they haven't change their maslak (mr iqbal ali is misinformed), they are still Hanafis and generally follow maturidi school of thought in Kalam ( maybe some follow Ash'ari school) - They still believe in sufism like their elders, as you mentioned.

Salafis are not followers of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal.

Now we know that those who promoted wahabbiism across the globe also promoted violent jihadi takfiri Al-qaeda, ISIS, Nusra, FSA, TPP, BLA, Jundollah and what not. Not that hard to deduce this now as it's from the horses mouth...lol......you fess up to one lie, then you have to admit the rest too.

What will this joker fess up next, that it was Obama who twisted my arm to create ISIS?......lol

Or that we were told to provide jokers and patsy's for the 911 op too?.....lol

Bastards.
