What's new

Sporadic anti Xi protests emerge in China

Even so, that's just one compared to the previous 19th top 7, Li Keqiang, Zhou Qiang and Hu Chunhua are all out.

And Zhao Leji only served in the League faction for a mere 3 years.
Yes. Li Keqiang, Wang Yang and Hu Chunhua, the top three senior officials of the Communist Youth League faction, all withdrew from the Political Bureau.

Although there are still many members of the Communist Youth League faction among the members of the Political Bureau and the Central Committee, they are all supporters of Xi Jinping.

The members of the Communist Youth League faction all come from the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. But there are both leftists and rightists among them. Many members of the left-wing Communist Youth League are close to the left-wing leader Xi Jinping. It is not so much Xi Jinping who defeated the Communist Youth League faction as Xi Jinping who split it.

BTW: In fact, I am also a CCP member who supports left-wing ideas. But I am more afraid that rights are not restricted.

Wonder why Xi is even doing this.
Just gonna make more unpopular among the factions.

And is it me or this factional infighting weirdly similar to the infighting inside Japan LDP's factions that there must be some balanced representations?

Let me introduce to you two sentences Mao Zedong once said:

1,中国共产党的最终目标是消灭中国共产党。
The ultimate goal of CCPs is to eliminate CCPs. If a political party cannot tolerate the existence of other parties, it wants to be the emperor.

2,党外无党,帝王思想。党内无派,千奇百怪。
If a political party cannot tolerate factional competition within itself, it will inevitably lead to chaos and demise.

First of all, you need to understand that the CCP is just a temporary institution set up to achieve its goals. Mao Zedong means that the existence of CCP itself has violated the values it believes in. The CCP ultimately wants to create a world without a country, a political party, a class or a war. So in the end, CCP needs to perish. Whether we succeed or fail, it will perish.

Secondly, it is different from what Westerners imagine. There are many parties in China, and the Chinese government is actually a ruling coalition composed of the CCP and eight political parties. There are many non CCP senior officials in the Chinese government. For example, Song Qingling, a member of KMT, once served as the national president of PRC. This position is similar to that of the President of Germany.

There are also many factions within CCPs, and CCPs never oppose factional competition. For example, the CCP leftists represented by Mao Zedong and Xi Jinping. The CCP Rightists represented by Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin. Liu Shaoqi and Bo Xilai are the CCP extreme leftists. The Communist Youth League represented by Hu Jingtao and Li Keqiang, etc. The Chinese political tradition does not deny human nature, so the Chinese believe that if we forcibly wipe out human nature and prohibit factional struggle, it will inevitably lead to greater chaos and disaster.

However, there is a bottom line and tacit understanding in the party struggle in China. Once someone crosses the red line in an attempt to split the CCP's unity, he will be collectively excluded and severely punished. For example, Bo Xilai and Wang Yang once fought fiercely, causing division almost like Trump. In the end, Bo Xilai was sent to prison, and Wang Yang was replaced as alternate prime minister by Li Keqiang.

I guess Mao was influenced by chinese history and Taoism/Buddhism thoughts that anything started must end.

But this kind of factional infighting is self-destructive and should be left for when China has no foreign enemy left.

.
Infighting or not, the most important thing is how will China's economy will go from here. Li Keqiang is retiring and we have no idea if his successor is good enough to take over or is he there because he is just loyal and has little to no Idea how to do Li Keqiang job. The coming 5 years will see if Xi Jinping having 5 extra years is a good idea or not.

So you're a CCP member? glad to meet you then

Malayias's prime minister Dr. Mahathiar served for more than 23 years, and there is Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew, the German Chancellor Merkel.

If a leader can continue to perform well, why not let him contribute another 5 years. There are always exceptions to some rigid rules.

Change a performing leader just to comply with some rules is like fighting a war blindly following the war plan, with disregard to changing situations.

Do you think there is no other members in CCP who can match XI? I thought china talks about meritocracy. If that is the case what is the need to weed out/ boot opposition members?
He did not spare even former president Hu.

The best if it runs not based on individual skills.

But based on the system.

The system will make it last forever.

Bending the system for personal gain will destroy the country quicker.

The fight is no longer for the country anymore, but everyone fight for personal gain.

Rather the opposite, Xi is a safer bet for Jiang's generation of players.

Remember, Xi only came to power with Jiang's full consent.

Without Jiang, Xi would not have even been allowed into the politburo.

Would a man like Jiang ever concede power to anybody without very specific arrangements about whom the new guy can touch, and whom he cannot?

.
Jiang is 96, doubt he is still relevant. Especially how Chinese economy changed from the Jiang era. In Jiang era you could do anything in business, Xi enforce the regulation. It's becoming like in Europe.
I guess Wang Huning pulls the strings in politburo.

The same thing happen to the Roman Republic milleniums ago. Without Crassius, Julius Caesar won't be allowed to be the top dog in the Senate. But look what happen at the end? The trio alliance ended with Pompey vs Caesar.

This is different. The reason why CCPs are efficient and powerful is that their organizational system is excellent. In other words, it is the rules of the CCP that build the current China, rather than the ability of one person.

It was the CCP that made Xi Jinping's achievements, not Xi Jinping.

The CCP is a super political party with 90 million Communist Party members and 40 million Communist Youth League members. It has countless talents. Even if Xi Jinping did not appear in the CCP's history, the CCP's organizational system will provide us with better leaders.

Perhaps Merkel and Mahathir are indispensable to Germany and Malaysia, but the CCP does not rely on anyone, and no one is indispensable.

I know that during the reign of Xi Jinping, China cleaned up corruption by a large margin. In addition, good achievements have been made in economic development. The industrial transformation was smooth, and we survived the middle-income trap safely. The real estate industry also basically achieved a soft landing. Most Chinese people like him very much, and I am no exception. I also like Xi Jinping very much. But I still believe that we should not damage our system for the sake of a good leader, which is not worth it.

I was in China when Jiang was still in office, I stayed in China until end of 2008 when Hu was in charge. The corruption level in the whole city of Shenzhen, including the local party members appointed as factory manager to our factory were all so openly corrupt. Triad and gangsters from Hunan and Sichuan had more power than the local police.

A common example, you need to present expensive gifts to headmasters to get in all levels of schools among many common ways to get good relationships which the West used the term "guanxi" as China specific term for corruption. As for our factory, we have different ways of having good "guanxi" with our party member factory manager as the middleman, to liase with local party leaders.

The CCP of this period may be powerful and efficient, but it was rotten to the core, from top leadership to local village party members. 上梁不正下梁歪.

If Xi did not go after the corrupted nationwide, China would go as Gordon Chang's China Collapse prediction.
