So far Afghanistan has avoided reteliation with artillary against pak army/FC and their haqqani agents, on the principle that pashtuns of other side would be affected and antagonized.

No, they have avoided retaliation because they know they will loose. In the current state, ANA is no match for the discipline and training of PA soldiers and officers. They are yet to create an Officer Core that can carry out fruitful defensive battles let alone offensive.

If Afghanistan also start shelling towards pakistan, then hundreds of innocent villagers on pakistani side would die which would adversely affect their claim on FATA and other pashtun areas of pakistan.

ANA does not possess the artillery or heavy weapons required to shell Pakistan.Once the ANA fired 30 mortars into Pakistan territory, in retaliation PA fired more than 150 artillery shells which permanently shut up the ANA.

According to an analyst pakistan has been provoking Afghanistan for years by relentless shelling on villages on kunar but some how karzai was not tempted to go into messy clashes with pakistani border forces.

Why would Pakistan want to provoke ANA? Pakistan is loosing patience against the Afghan Government and this was the result of that. As long as the Afghan Government does not take action against the terrorist hideouts in Kunar and Nooristan, PA will be forced to retaliate in self defence.

The more stable and stronger afghanistan gets, more they will be likely to give you response, trouble.

A more stable and stronger Afghanistan is good news for Pakistan because the TTP wont be able to exploit the vacuum that exists in Afghanistan right now. A stable Afghanistan would result in a peaceful border with Pakistan which ultimately Pakistan wants.

Even if governament of Afghan taliban is established in kabul, TTP will continue attacking border posts from kunar and nuristan, so pakistan should put leash on mad dog raheel shareef.

If the TTP use Kunar and Nuristan as sanctuaries, Pakistan won't have any other option but to respond in force. Pakistan will be well within its rights to engage TTP sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.

There is no threat that exists, Period. The most they can do is ambush or fire a couple of mortars, thats about it. But the question is, at what cost for them when the enemy reacts?
