Space Exploration. Why??

.
here is the nasa's vision for space exploration

Moon: By going to the moon for extended periods of time, astronauts will search for resources and learn how to work safely in a harsh environment -- stepping stones to future exploration. The moon also offers many clues about the time when the planets were formed.

Mars: Robotic missions have found evidence of a watery past, suggesting that simple life forms may have developed long ago and may persist beneath the surface today. Human exploration could provide answers to some profound questions.

Beyond: As humans and robots work together exploring the moon and Mars, NASA spacecraft will continue to send back scientific data from throughout the solar system, laying the groundwork for potential human journeys.

Space, the final frontier.

To boldly go where no man has gone before! You are thinking that we may not need it today. But 50-100 years in the future if Pakistan isn't somewhere significant in its space program then we'd have a hard time coping up with the world.

Not to mention that, that is probably the way to shift into a one world nation scenario.

.
i think that there aree two reasons for space exploration

1- to know the unknown

2- to use it

.
for example the first phase of moon exploration was to know the unknown and they are comming back to the moon to use it in this way or that...
there are disscussions and plans for minig on moon etc...

.
If Coloumbus or other explorers hadn't ventured and gone further to explore..how could they discover land+countless resources...and if they hadn't v would be deprived of certain essential facilities etc...
so ofcourse they should go ahead and explore...the only thing is Pak doesn't realise this and that's why there's hardly any Pak Space Exploration Team ready 2 do that...:)

.
pakistan is no way near to explore the space...they yet have to launch a satellite in earth's orbit....to do the rest pakistan should spent a lot of money and an army of scientists plus technological assisstance from china....

there is treaty between pakisan and china .....let's see wha happens

* Image processing used in CAT Scanners and MRI technology in hospitals worldwide came from technology developed to computer-enhanced pictures of the Moon for the Apollo programs.
* Kidney dialysis machines were developed as a result of a NASA-developed chemical process, and insulin pumps were based on technology used on the Mars Viking spacecraft.
* Programmable Heart Pacemakers were first developed in the 1970s using NASA satellite electrical systems.
* Fetal heart monitors were developed from technology originally used to measure airflow over aircraft wings.
* Surgical probes used to treat brain tumors in children resulted from special lighting technology developed for plant growth experiments on Space Shuttle missions.
* Infrared hand-held cameras used to observe blazing plumes from the Shuttle have helped firefighters point out hot spots in brush fires.
* Satellite communications allow news organizations to provide live, on-the-spot broadcasting from anywhere in the world; families and businesses to stay in touch using cellphone networks; and the simple pleasures of satellite TV and radio, and the convenience of ATMs across the country and around the world.

Unfortunately, the benefits of the space exploration are not self-evident, no matter how real they are. And people are genuine in their worry that money is being wasted in space. Their concern with spending priorities needs to be addressed.

The high profile of space exploration makes it appear more expensive than it actually is. The uninformed, yet caring citizen, is under the earnest impression that the money would make a genuine difference in the fight against poverty. The real dimensions of the social needs are, in reality, out of proportion with the money spent in space – be it in the past, now or in the immediate future. Otherwise, there won't be any social needs left after the Congress stopped funding the Apollo missions to the Moon.

In the same time, many of the critics of the space programme on social grounds are "limousine liberals". They point the finger at the US government for wasting their tax money in space instead of helping the poor, but they are not feeling guilty for their own consumerist life style and for their own scale of priorities.

For instance, this year, total pet-related sales in the United States are projected to be $31 billion – the double, almost to the cent, of the $15.47 billion NASA budget. An estimated $5 billion worth of holiday season gifts were offered – not to the poor – but to the roving family pets – six times more than NASA spent on its own roving Martian explorers, Spirit and Opportunity, who cost the American taxpayer $820 million both. Instead of providing a launch pad for the immorally expensive shuttles, Florida can do better and clothe the underprivileged - a genuine alligator pet collar cost only $400 a piece.

Are space rockets expensive toys for the big boys? In any case, they cost less than the $20.3 billion a year spent in the US on the human popular toy industry. One doesn't need toys to play with when the most popular game is playing deaf and blind to the needs of the poor – provided one criticizes the waste in space.

Instead of betting on the future, Americans spend $586.5 billion a year on gambling. It is perhaps immoral to criticize one's personal choice, so instead of kicking the habit and feeding the poor with this money, one should stop instead the enormous waste in space who stands at a scandalous amount of 40 times less than gaming tokens.

Speaking about personal choice, $31 billion go annually in the US on tobacco products - twice the NASA budget -, and $58 billion is spent on alcohol consumption -almost four times the NASA budget. Forget space spin-offs – here are genuine tangible benefits: $250 billion are spent annually in the US on the medical treatment of tobacco- and alcohol-related diseases - only sixteen times more than on space exploration.

Here are $976.3 billion dollars – almost a trillion - spent every year in the US on pets, toys, gambling, alcohol and tobacco. It is 63 times the amount spent on space exploration – with the difference that NASA has not destroyed lives as the alcohol, tobacco and gambling did.

Space is there for us to use it and abouse it. Simple.

Imagine getting all the minerals from the asteriod belt. That alone wil solve most of the crisis happening today, espically oil.

.
why we explore space???

what is its benifits for mankind..??

Besides the various advances in medicine and science that humans have achieved in their quest for space, IMO the most important is survival.

The way earth population is growing; sooner or later there will be a time when there will no room left on mother earth to support all of her children. Outer planets and moon provide us room to expand. It may appear to be too early now and other worlds too inhospitable; but the time will come. Imagine just 500 years ago, most of the mankind had not discoverd Americas and Australia, both places are now well populated. Who knows what will happen in another 500 years. Space exploration is essential for our long term survival as a species.

Can Moslems leave Earth? How can you face in the proper direction and pray towards Mecca? Imagine if you will that its 200 years in the future and humanity is among the stars and your on one of Titans moons and it is on the back side of Jupiter and Jupiter is on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth.

On possible idea explore din sci-fi is transplanting Mecca or a good portion of it to another planet. While this is unlikely what about Mecca in a bottle. A person or group could take a paving stone or some sand and place it on the ground of the planet they were on and could then pray towards it.

.
Facing Mecca I believe is not a compulsion. In case a Muslim is unsure of the direction of Mecca, Islam permits him to face any direction for the Namaz.

That cannot be done and shall never be done. If the humanity can live in stars after 200 years in the future, why can't the human simply locate Kabba with the given technological advancements?
