Lot of factors are to be considered before going to the point that how he has been taken to Afghanistan? There are certain circumstances where he could have been lured in/deceiving tactics. You might get it though, details later till official statement.

It seems like the perps wanted to send a message. They could have easily bumped him in Islamabad or Peshawar, but they kidnapped him from the capital, took him back to Afghanistan and then killed him. Either that or they wanted to interrogate him to get some information out of him?
