Soviet Navy Vs. Modern Russia's in One Graphic

Lost glory of our fathers and grandfathers. :cray:

Mikhail Gorbachev with his Perestroika and Glasnost has ruined USSR. Boris Yelstin with his indifference towards the union made the matters worse.

The lesson is Internal threats should always take precedence over external threats.

Soviet Union was well prepared for the external threats but not internal.

Still using most the soviet era ships to by the looks of it

Russia still looks too powerful at this moment, which is a great thing.

I agree.I think that in conventional warfare the USSR and the Warsaw Pact could have steamrolled Western Europe during the Cold War.

There would be no "USSR and allies invade completly Western Europe",the world would already have been destroyed in a full scall nuclear war.
-
There was a time when the USSR had ~/+ 40.000 nukes. (and the US over 30.000) Do you imagine ?

Yeah,i remember something like if NATO forces would have been overwhelmed in West Germany the plan was to let the nukes fly. After 2 WW in which Western Europeans basically gave away their supremacy on a platter to the US and others,i'm glad they had the brains to "keep it in their pants" during the Cold War.

It would be interesting to see some military numbers of NATO vs Warsaw Pact in Europe during the 80's.If i'll have time i'll search for them later.

Yeah. It is a miracle that ours and yours leadership have had enough common sense not to destroy the whole planet.

USSR invested too much in defense caused their disintegration .US was nothing against USSR.

Please, no need to exaggerate.
But, after the loss of China the Soviet Union had no powerful allies, while on the side of the United States were Britain, France, Japan, Italy, Spain. So the Soviet Union was preparing to fight against the whole world, while the United States only against USSR.

Agreed .I was talking about a case between USSR and US only .
US was good in creating allies and that worked out very well.China was not that powerful at that time .So it was all about USSR .Look at your numbers of sub marines that serviced in Soviet Navy .
240 .You know US still have only around 75 subs .

.
I would like to say that after the 2nd world war and the commencement of the UNO the leader ship of USSR had no vision that all the offices of UNO were build in USA, for example WHO UNESCO UNSAFE WFP International Bank IMF etc head quarter were in the USA . There was no any HQ of these departments in the USSR. USA used these departments for its welfare very well and USSR and its bock countries deprived from the utilization of these departments which result be came in 1995 at Afghanistan war.

Do not underestimate China and its impact on the fate of Communism in the world. Molotov (one of the leading figures of Stalin's Soviet Union) once said that the main outcome of the Second World War was not the victory over Nazism in Europe, but the victory of communism in China. After the WW2 thousands and thousands of Soviet specialists worked in China . They created industry and gave important military technologies to China. China produced Soviet tanks, jets, guns (even AK-47) and so on.
After we lost China as military ally, the Soviet Union was left alone against all the Western empires.

I agree completely with you on this one. :agree:

Lost glory of our fathers and grandfathers. :cray:

Not really, Russia even today is still a world/great power despite it's diminished role compared to its superpower soviet era. Russia has always been among the top 4 big powers this past century along with U.K,France, U.S.

So it's inevitable that at one point a country/empire will obviously decline , the thing here is not declining(since it;s always bound to happen), but striving to remain among the top tier powers not only militarily but also economically/scientifically,technologically,development wise etc.
In this regard, you crying about your lost glory will make people like us cry even more since our empire/Navy at it's peak dwarfed almost any other navy/empire in history and ruled the four seas uncontested. :nono:
news-graphics-2007-_441338a.gif

So there is no to cry for lost glory, as long as you still remain relevant in the world scene, which i would say Russia is still up there. :thank_you2:

.
Obviously they no longer have the freedom of communism to steal at will and force people to work in slavery...if the Russian understood the cycle of Capitalism..Rubble would be next big currency after USD.

Well, you are right, I have always been surprised Russia's currency is nowhere near the worlds biggest/most traded/internationally recognized reserve currencies. :undecided: Since These currencies represent the developed world's most stable economies(recently it was announced that even the Chinese renminbi will finally be included, which i will say is a nice compliment to Beijing.:D). Only the U.S,U.K, E.U, Japan and soon China have this status.:welcome:
