Dalai Lama's former biographer takes up residence in mainland China

“I’ve now really become a Chinese citizen,” he was quoted as telling senior Sichuan government official Cui Baohua last week.

A former senoir member of the exiled Tibetan government in India and one-time biographer for the Dalai Lama has returned to live in China, a Chinese government-run news website said.
Achok Rinpoche, who was born in Sichuan in 1944 and left in 1959 after a failed Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule, first went back to China in 1982 as part of an effort by Beijing to engage with exiled Tibetans, the Chinese website said.
"The motherland and home are the best.The motherland is the warmest," it said.

I cant speak for other countries in ASEAN, but for the local Singaporean populace, India is hardly heard or known for anything else, except:

1)source of foreign construction workers, gardening landscapers and cleaners.

2)a huge place that is smelly becos every1 from that place is smelly. My uncle who has been to Delhi for business described the typical 'indian odour' the moment he stepped off the plane as 'overpowering' and 'magnitudes higher' than those found in Little India(ethnic enclave in singapore)

3)where roti prata/paratha came from

4)where Singapore's 9% South asian minorities originated from.

5)where rape n disrespect for women is rampant. This is amplified by the delhi rape case(victim was called Nirbhaya or something) because she was flown to Singapore for emergency treatment and our media covered intensely about the case's details.
