SKorea lifts travel alert for Bangladesh
Star Online Report
South Korea today lifted its temporary travel alert for Bangladesh which was issued in July after the terrorist attack at a restaurant in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
Quoting the country’s foreign ministry, South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported.
The temporary travel warning was issued for the whole country after a terror attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone -- that resulted in the death of 22 people, mostly foreigners.
"Those who were behind the Dhaka restaurant terror attack were arrested in late August ... while overall public security is improving," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea said as it announced the lifting of the temporary travel alert.
However, the ministry said it will retain its level 3 travel warning for the south-eastern Bangladesh region of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, which was issued before the July attack due to lingering security concerns over frequent armed anti-government conflicts and drug trafficking in the area.
Meanwhile, a level 2 travel warning will also remain in place for Bangladesh as a whole, it added.
A level 3 travel warning advises people to leave the region, while the lower warning urges people to refrain from traveling to the area.
