South China Sea: Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia to Hold Talks

Australia will be discussing China’s military take on the South China Sea dispute next week with Malaysia after the country has shown its interest in joining the “freedom of navigation” patrols when India took a step back.

Malaysian Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said on Monday that he will be meeting Australian Defence Minister Marise Payne next week to discuss China’s military measures taken on the sea dispute. The discussion will also be joined by representatives from the Philippines and Vietnam.

China has always claimed to own major portions of the sea’s resource-rich waters, which constitutes the channel through which $5 trillion trade passes every year. News.com.au reported that the claims seem conflicting as neighbour nations Brunei, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia have similar things to say relating to the South China Sea dispute.

The authorities and nationals seem to question China’s ability to protect its claims of owning the major portion of resource-rich waters. The doubt came following the efforts undertaken by the United States in the form of “freedom of navigation” measures conducted near islands that constitute China’s junction for advanced weapons and controversial reclamation assignments.

Hishammuddin confirmed to meet Payne to undertake efforts and help China remember its promise of not using military means in the area.

If the reports we’ve received from various sources regarding the build-up and placement of military assets in the Spratlys are true — this forces us in a pushback against China,” Hishammuddin told reporters.

The Malaysian minister added he would also hold a meeting with Vietnam and the Philippines to discuss the issue and will track responses coming from his counterparts. In case the reports of military build-up were true, Malaysia cannot stop it alone and it needs backing from the neighbour countries to take aggressive actions.”We need the support of other ASEAN countries, and I will continue to (seek that support),” Hishammuddin said as quoted by

Hope he ask why Vietnam and Philippines are within Malaysian EEZ.

That's a great news. China have a long time dream to have a Chinese dominated country or Chinese NanYang province to get a control of Malacca strait. Lee Kuan Yew (Singapore) is long viewed as a traitor or a puppet of USA. For most of the time in history, Chinese dominated Malaysia (or NanYang) by population and economy. British tried to suppress Chinese by introducing more and more Muslims. But even at the time of Malaysian independence, Chinese population was still more than 50%. However, due to China's weak navy at that time, the betrayal of Lee Kuan Yew (Singapore) and the support of USA, Chinese were suppressed and Malaysia became a Muslim country instead of a Chinese country.

From then on, through all kinds of suppression policy and demographic engineering, Chinese population is suppress to only 25% now from 47% at the time of Independence. Malaysia is a Muslim country with official discrimination against Chinese. However, China tolerates it as long as it maintains good relations with China and represents some Chinese interests in ASEAN. If Malaysia has this fundamental change in its policy, this could give China a chance similar to Crimea and control Malacca.

I always think that United States will not play the Malaysia card since this allows USA to have firm control on Malacca. It seems that USA wants to have more bets in SCS and even put Malacca on the bets This will become a tougher strategic game between China and United States.

Very unlikely he would ask that. His intention is to get support from VN and PH. Confronting VN and PH is not on his agenda:

BERNAMA - Malaysia Will Not Tackle South China Sea Issue Alone - Hishammuddin

Malaysia Will Not Tackle South China Sea Issue Alone - Hishammuddin

KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will not be alone in tackling the issue of China carrying out development and stationing their assets in the South China Sea, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said.

He said he would be meeting with his Australian counterpart next week to share information and discuss the matter further.

Hishammuddin said he would also be meeting with the representatives of leaders from neighbouring countries, namely, Vietnam and Philippines, in a bid to get their support to restrain the superpower...

Let's see if Malaysia will join SCS patrol really. If it is true, the SCS game will be upgraded a new level with Malacca strait on bets too. Militarily Malaysia is closer to China than Singapore to China. Malaysia buys many military equipment from China while Singapore is fully American. Good Military and Foreign relations between China and Malaysia allow China to have blind eyes on Malaysian domestic policies.

Good, TPP nations start helping each other against big bad none TPP nation .

"All TPP nations is the winer, the loser is none TPP " VN news

I wish that internet would prevent Untied States from engineering Chinese massacres as in 1965 and in 1998 in Indonesia. For last three centuries, Westerners have keeping engineering Chinese massacres to reduce Chinese influence in Southeast Asia. One important reason for SCS bases is to allow China to have quick response to these kind of accidents.

Just as the coming of Soviet bode ill for Afghanistan, pivotal to Asia may be the end of ASEAN prosperity. More and more internal problems of ASEAN will be revealed which may even change the ASEAN maps.

Hopefully ASEAN Chinese will park their capitals in China or Hong Kong, instead of Singapore or United States this time. It seems that United States needs the capital from ASEAN, or cut the fleeces from prosperous ASEAN. Do not think that China will come to help ASEAN as in 1997.

That's a great news for me too, that Malaysia was a Chinese province. or your dream to make it happens.
you are too greedy. no wonder ethnic Chinese are suppressed and despised in Malaysia.

Hope he ask why Vietnam and Philippines are within Malaysian EEZ.

you are ethnic Chinese, I guess. live with it: you have no say in malay politics.

If Vietnam could dream for SCS, China definitely wants to control Malacca some days. Vietnam will remain poor as long as you are dreaming for SCS and trying to check the rise of China. You will become a sacrifice for the rise of China.

Through SCS bases, China will slowly cut the throats of hostile countries in ASEAN. Thanks for the blunder made by Vietnam and Philippines.

After all SCS bases finish as planned, Vietnam sea trade is at Chinese mercy even though your coast line is long. You will feel what felt by your fishermen. Suffocating.

That's the pay you deserve for those 3 millions boat refugees including 1 million Chinese done by VCP.

All superpowers rise with some sacrifices. Just as the rise of United States had Spain and Mexico as sacrifices. The rise of China also needs sacrifice. So called peaceful rise of China just brought numerous challenges and despises on China. Welcome to list of sacrifice candidates.

Like I keep saying in all these types of threads; we Americans need not say much of anything. Just let these arrogant Chinese fools keep talking and talking. They seem to have no idea that it is the unguarded words right out of their mouths that are causing all the countries of the region to hate and fear them.

I have businesses in both China and United States. Unfortunately I never like to hire Vietnamese, even though they are much cheaper.

Words make nothing. It is not the childish world. Interests drive actions.

Just like in Mideast, people hate United States to their bones, but many countries still ask United States to station armies there because it fits their interests. Also many of you may not like your boss, but you have to work him/her because it fits your interests.

Analysis of interests is much more than your emotional feeling in business and politics. VCP made their mistakes and were driven by their emotional expansionism since their independence day. That's why they continuously put Vietnamese economy in the trouble. China analyzed the interests well. We sacrificed many lands in land disputes with Russia and Central Asia because we know that SCS and Taiwan are our route to rejuvenate.

Do you think Latin American fear or love you?

you should begin to learn to differ between business and politics.
nobody is against doing business with China, but everybody is against your greediness, aka bad politics. beware, the malays are in general very hostile to Chinese. I won´t wonder if they one day kick you out of the country.

If you or anyone threaten our territorial integrity, you know the consequences!
