South Asia courts nuclear insecurity

^^this argument is going nowhere - lets discuss the core issue - should there be disarmament or not between india and pakistan.

Nothing would have happened to india. The reaction of the international communtiy was so pathetic that pakistan was forced to reply to it. Moreover i dont buy this argument of india's that they knew pakistan would follow, perhaps i should say that india including the international community were all of an opinion that pakistan will fail, but when the tests were conducted successfully, the international community was taken by a big surprise and it was only then when they got into action and posed sactions on to pakistan. Putting sactions on india was just a cover up to show that both the nations are being punished equally however the fact was that only pakistan was too be punished. I say this because india was not sactioned, instead all the pressure was built on pakistan not to follow the suit. Also except of expressing shock, nothing happened. It was only after when pakistan conducted tests, the hulla huppa of the international community began. We also know how pro-indian the clinton administration was.
dude, you are so right. that's why I say, only Allah is holding our country together thru this.

sanctions were placed on both countries only after pakistan conducted the tests. they were quitely lifted off from india, while pakistan's was lifted only because of the war on terror.

china is rising to become a superpower and the rest of the world is pissing in their pants so they can't do anything about it. they can try to arm india, but that won't stop china.

japan tells us to disarm and works on a BMD with India. US is giving a ToT on military acquistions(although there will be some strings behind it), etc. we have only ourselves to depend on.

fcuk the world i say, we don't need anyone. we've only been used and trashed by not only the US, but other countries as well. our politicians are most certainly not doing anything about our problems and are here to rob the country.

we seriously need a bloody revolution to flip our country right side up, we should slaughter the politicians while we're at it. have you noticed zardari has basically become the PM? He was briefed at the ISI HQ, although only the prime minister can do that. he's making our policies and sucking up to india.:hitwall:

gosh, i wish our military would put a bullet thru his head.:hitwall:

fatman17: The question of Indo-Pak disarmament does not arise simply because India's nuclear arsenal is aimed at the PRC. Further, as long as the PRC is a nuclear power, India won't disarm. The best that can be done is CBMs and a genuine treaty or pact that minimizes the threat.

that is why every missile test pakistan conducts, india has to respond in the same. pak threat or PRC! whot!

i think that wheather they had tested the bomb or not pakistan should not have tested it. Our weapons program should have remained they ways isreals is right now everyone in the world knows that we have nukes but we dont acknowledge it. this way we get all the deterence of nuclear weapons and none of the consequences.

Good one...

Let me clarify:
1) India has nukes because PRC has nukes.
2) Pakistan has nukes because India has nukes.

So, for India and Pakistan to disarm, both will have to give up nuclear weapons. India won't give up nuclear weapons because PRC wouldn't. That is what I meant.

Disarmament won't be bi-nation, it will have to be tri-nation.

PRC won't give up nukes unless and until everybody in the world does, which, given the current geo-political scenario, isn't at all likely.

That is what I meant when I said that the question of Indo-Pak disarmament does not arise.

I think these tit-for-tat tests, which, by the way, both India and Pakistan conduct, are only there to appease the "common man/woman/other."

It would have definitely paid off for Pakistan in the short term. The only question is would the US have then started pestering Pak to give up its nuke program like they are pestering Iran today?
