Lahore court acquits PM Shehbaz, son Hamza in Rs16bn money laundering case​

A special court in Lahore on Wednesday acquitted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son, Hamza Shehbaz, in a Rs16 billion money laundering case.

The brief verdict, which was reserved earlier in the day, was announced by Judge Ijaz Hassan Awan.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the FIA had told the court that no direct transaction had been made in the bank accounts of PM Shehbaz and his son from benami (unnamed) accounts.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had booked Shehbaz and his two sons, Hamza and Suleman, in November 2020 under Sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 34 and 109 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, read with Section 3/4 of Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Suleman had been declared a proclaimed offender by the court for his constant absence in the trial proceedings.

Taking to Twitter, the premier thanked God for victory in the “false, baseless, and political revenge-based case of money laundering”. “We stand vindicated in front of the court, law and nation today,” he added.

Death sentence..the point was.. he was indicted in 2014 during nawaz govt. And later when nawaz got kicked out .. this case was as a card used by pmln to get favors from military establishment..

The whole point is military establishment doesn't control courts ..yes certain elements in courts do cater to what military. Est. wants in certain regards esp. If it's regarding national security.. but it's usually at the disposal of a favor.. when it comes to politics the courts have a SCBA that work with foreign bodies and are highly politicized ..as a result the direct intrusion from outside happens through this office. Event hough it seems the military is dictating courts but reality is courts are under pressure of fedding off a martial law and they go to any length to protect their socalled constitution even if it's about giving leeway to corrupt politicians..

If you guys play that way, that is fine. Generals always had controls over democratic leadership and the national. Throughout the history. And they even hanged one politician to death and other to the reduced laughing stock that was once lending support to her brother in pursuit of independence of Pakistan.

And even now, all the musical chairs and judges and political charade, it is all by General. The rest are pretenders who are toeing with the lines as ordered given their powers at best are fictional. And now preparing their exit plan in form of possible money laundering.

If PMLN becomes serious about double-crossing General, then Nawaz sherif will be in front line to the war. And he will be killed. The question is who will benefit the most from his death; General or his family?
