And education/employment opportunities are most certainly not equal for Muslims. This has been debated ad nauseum in other threads including reference to the Sachar report amonst others.

You anecotal evidence about cooks and isolated incidents of Muslim achievements don't even begin to counter the facts on the ground regarding religous/caste discrimination within India.

A little less "Incredible India" media brainwashing. A little more reality check.

@jarnee: indian muslims irrespective of caste race, embraced islam and became muslims not because shudras were treated as equals and the rich had to secure their wealth, but because you people used to drink piss and eat on the leaf, and all superstitions stuff and jealousy, black magic of hindu society, so keep your self informed how "poor, backward" indian society was before muslims came and improved your society. now look at your culture, muslim taught you every thing.

about cows being the god, well, hanuman is considered a god, rats are godly etc etc. its the reality hindus worship millions of gods. while explaining that, ohh this is a falacy, we dont consider a cow as a god, they how come hindus worship mokeys, rats eyc????, is there any explanation to it??, not possible dude.

maybe after the presence of homosexual rights, the world may think india has "changed" and are awaking, but historically, hindus have always remained a backward society

Indians the cow piss drinkers?
At times I have been reading around that Indians basically hindus are the drink cow piss. I have been around 7 different states (business reasons)but never found a single person who drinks cow piss. Though there are groups and institutions which promote it for its medicinal values. I am not sure but it is used for some medicines.

Cow as a manifestation of god
I have heard many people say Hindus consider cow as a god. But the fact is cow was never considered as a god it has always taken up as equivalent to mother. It is referred as "Gao maata" not some "Gao dev" or "Gao Devi". The reason being a majority of ancient population was fed on cow milk.

When the news reached the Prophet he sent some people in their pursuit. When they were brought, he cut their hands and feet and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron. Narrated Anas: Some people from the tribe of 'Ukl came to the Prophet and embraced Islam. The climate of Medina did not suit them, so the Prophet ordered them to go to the (herd of milch) camels of charity and to drink, their milk and urine (as a medicine). They did so, and after they had recovered from their ailment (became healthy) they turned renegades (reverted from Islam) and killed the shepherd of the camels and took the camels away. The Prophet sent (some people) in their pursuit and so they were (caught and) brought, and the Prophets ordered that their hands and legs should be cut off and that their eyes should be branded with heated pieces of iron, and that their cut hands and legs should not be cauterized, till they die. Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 8, Bk. 82, No. 794.

^ Yes, but no one will agree here maybe coz its not practised in Pakistan, same way all Hindu rituals are not seen everywhere in India.

From Minority (Sikh) point of view -

India is a vast and diverse nation, language change every 100km, so many rituals, cultures, religions, castes, classes.

OP forgot Naked Indian (Nange Sadhu) myth, They have sacrificed everything, no pyaar with money, clothes, home. Totally devoted to supreme God. They are 1000x better than jihadis who always kill innocents and claim to be religious.

There must be something in this guys, coz we do it too. On our Navjote (thread ceremony when a kid formally comes of age and is inducted into the religion), our priest makes us sip "taro" which is the sanctified and purified (by certain prayers and rituals) urine of a special bull kept in our major atash behrams. The bull is completely white with not a single black hair, and is supposed to posess divine powers.

Anyways one should understand that what is accepted in one culture as normal may be looked on as dirty by another ..... its all in the eyes of the beholder, and it always helps to not have a jaundiced and blinkered view of things.

And speaking of eating in leaves, most Indians find it disgusting and revolting for a single communal thal/plate laden with biryani to have people sitting around digging their hands into it and shoving fistfuls into their mouths, and then shoving their hands in again ..... and again ...... scouring around for the most succulent botas of gosht. On a personal level, it like watching a scene from National Geographic or Animal Planet.

So to each his own ......

At times I have found people claiming that the Indian Muslims are with them but have had hardly found any Muslim from India supporting them. Even at this forum there was a thread wheather the Muslims should fight with the Indians against the Muslim majority force of Pakistan.... And at the end of the day Indian Muslims gave the reply... They are and they will.

Treatment Of Minorities
It is a general belief that India is a dominant Hindu state with the ill treatment of minorities. There had been cases. Godhra was a big mistake. At some of the rural areas untouchables still exists. But the perception is changing. India offers a great deal of reservations to the minorities in various fields ranging from education to jobs. There was a time when there was a divide when Hindus and Muslims did not drank from the same well. Today representing the common man I would say the divide is on a decline. Even for me my cook is a Muslim and guys let me tell you no one can make better food then her.

Poverty in India
Keeping aside statistics if anyone to visit India and get a chance to the rural sections specially beggars. Its not like they beg because they have nothing to do. It has become more of a profession in India. I am not advocating begging but it is the way things have changed over the coarse of time. At the end of the day I have hardly found anyone going to empty stomach to bed. (I have done extensive research on the same)
