He seems to be going overboard in justifying the botched up boat operation.

Don't know what he is refering to, but lamenting about things that might happend 20 to 30 years ago, surely doesn't change anything today is it?

But alas he is just like any other politician ....taking opportunistic potshots

that too while justifying his botched up operation .

He knows very well that he can get away with such loose comment ..as he do not have to give any proof .

He will hide behind oath of screcy ..if prodded .

These kind of comments do not befit Defence minister of India .

I think he is competent and will eventually do a decent job I guess. But he will play by the rules of the new and extremely dangerous political culture that Modi has brought in. As @jbgt90 pointed out, you do not easily criticize former ministers. One reason is that it sets of a cycle of vendetta politics that never stops. I know because it happened in TN. Karunanidhi, himself overseeing the corrupt DMK went ahead and jailed Jaya for corruption. He thought it's a nice way to finish her off. Then she came to power and returned the favor and so on. At the national level there has been more maturity. Vajpayee never went after Sonia, MMS didn't have modi jailed (they were in power for 8 years in UPA 1 and till mid UPA 2 they could have used ample opportunities to screw him, especially because he was growing in stature). Despite Advani's Babri taint, no real action has been taken against him. It is under modi that the rules are being broken. It seems more like- if someone is against me I'll scrw him. That is not right at all.

Please stick to facts while refuting arguments. I have myself stated that Modi has mellowed down (as opposed to my expectations). Being pro BJP does not make one a fan boy.

As for the custom of NOT naming former ministers - it should go. Criminals need to be exposed. Pronto.

In fact there were other articles were Defense personal were praising him for actually knowing the technical terms especially when it came to matters of negotiations. I find the whole criticism on Parekar to be a hogwash. I'd like to see the link to that article...

But it will not last .

Just foreign policy initiatives are not enough ( which was a great change by the way )

so we need to see the upcoming budget as to how much ' talk ' is transformed into action .

If you are not a fan boy then you should not feel offend should you?

Yes criminals should be exposed, hence my first post , parrikar should have named the people rather than just give vague accusations. One does that only for the sole purpose to score political mileage. .

Ps : my family knows parrikars family well , our ancestral home is close to his place in Mapuca. hell i have even traveled in his esteem a few times( would you like me to give his personal car number to prove my point?) , He is one of the people who convinced me to do my masters in IIT B his alma mater way back in the mid 90s , I know the man well hence i am disappointed in his behavior.
there are certain unwritten rules which should not be broken , he broke them today.
