He is a trained and armed soldier. He can kill them all if he wants to.
People shouldn't try to be super heroes. If military is respecting them by not confronting them, people should do the same.

He was in vacation in Marmaris...After he left the hotel, jets bombed it.
No evidence of that, there are reports that Erdogan may have been lying or exaggerating this.

Above everything it's matter of

Above everything else, it's a matter of Haya and Izzet for the Millet. They definitely don't deserve such lowly actions which are impossible to put into words. Anyway, it's been found out that it's the job of around 400 low ranking officers (Col, Maj etc.) and JCO/NCOs. They may be linked to a pseudo Islamic scholar, in reality an agent in foreign agencies payroll and currently living in Pennsylvania, and his movement to create a parallel state structure by infiltrating into civil and military posts. The ultimate goal is to put the clock backward by hundred years for Turkey to ensure that she's never concerned about anything else outside her boundaries. Turkey is supposed to be fully immersed into political, social, religious and economic chaos and they should be always fighting each other under the tutelage government run by "our boys". Erdo'an has become too much for them. Talking about ATAK or MILGEM or TFX is unforgivable in their books.

One good thing, top military commanders and opposition politicians are against the coup. They are asking them to go back to the barracks. People have flocked into the streets braving sporadic firing from the rebel soldiers. Some went to capture the presidential palace, but they've been arrested.

I would rather lose my fingers than write these things. Anyway, there's always (K)Hair in whatever Allah-u Azimushshan has for us in provision. InshaAllah the Turkish folks will go past beyond these tests with the Dua from the Ummet..
Really respect for you people how you came out on streets and rejected this coup. Turkey has shown today that they truly are united people. We need to learn a lot from you on this.

Because Pakistani coups tend to be quick, professional and bloodless...mostly. PA knows that if you don't succeed within an hour, you're pretty much fucked.
Actually , due to free media in Pakistan, all politician faces are exposed and they did corruption very boldly. Just look at Ayan and Dr Asim . One is known currency smuggler and others is front man. If ask any Pakistani citizen about military coup his reply will ....welcome. Because our democratic system totally failed to deliver. Imagine a country PM spent whole month in UK and Edhi refused to go on foreign land for treatment. We have examples. A country without foreign minister. Right now Kashmiri people need moral support from present govt, but govt nowhere to be found.

I would't be surprised if the UAE princes r behind this, at least financially, they always hated Erdogan, if they r I think he will wipe them out , I hope he does .
I doubt it, it was probably Gulenists.

[I haven't read this thread at all! So I don't know what others are saying above. But this is what I just wrote to NY Times in the Comments section. And it is duplicated here. ]

My comments begin:

I can't believe there are so many 'recommended' posts here about supporting this coup! What did the past coups did to Turkey? Brought 'secular' but corrupt regimes who may have greater international PR skills/value but were corrupt and denied poorer Turks opportunities. So why repeat the failed approach?
I know, I know, Erdogan got arrogant etc and that his Syrian blunder was something I am not willing to forgive him for. But the right--and the only way--should be for the people to kick him out!
This coup is unacceptable to me! Please remember that: The cure for democracy's ills is more democracy!
PS. As a person of Pakistani origin, we know what coups are about. At best they are 'band aids'. The lesson has been learned hard in Pakistan. Better swallow incompetent rulers then to welcome Bonapartes again.

Erdogan will now take full control of the military and cleanse all the "secular" forces within it. Politically this couldn't have gone any better for him.
In other words, a Commander in Chief of Turkey? I thought a president automatically controls the military.

Fucking Western new sources still for the most part have titles like ''Turkish Military Takes Over Country''.

Beteri sizin başınıza gelsin orospuçocukları

Turkish military is in charge of Turkey.

Erdogan is no longer in charge of his own country.

2. Islamist backlash would be huge, terrorist groups will gain lots of credibility
they r so stupid, stupider than Bush when he invaded Iraq, they still r playing with fire, if Erdogan falls, that is it for the ME, ISIS will control everything n the world will be a big Iraq .but they still continue untill they unleash the true power of the muslims

(From Yeni Akit newspaper) People have taken control of the military vehicles which the coup mongers were using to raid the local district office of the ruling party. They left leaving behind their weapons and vehicles. Thanks to the compulsory military service, Elhamdulillah, every Turkish male knows how to use the general service weapons. Most of the soldiers are conscripts, so they’re also part of the Millet and have no motivation to go against the government..
