Your hard drive corrupted and there is only way to get your data back, format the disk and then run data restore software with mulipal extensions to look for like *.JPG, *.GIF etc.

Boot a Linux Live cd like Gparted, run photorec on the drive mounted. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

Also, check to see if harddrive health is OK with hddscan. (SMART)
