people are getting powerfull day by day over here. As the political parties are thrown off whenever theres a failure. The present one will be thrown away if they can't push developement.
As i'm seeing that there should be some work done for the city peoples who goes through the daily hassle of power crisis and traffic. Obviously we cant leave the village behind but if theres nothing done for us how can we create more oppertunities for them? Food security can be maintained but redirecting everyresource towards that is counterproductive for the productive people.

Only one solution to our success and survival of as a proud nation is that we must keep Islam as guiding principal of the state. Bangladesh is surrendered by none-Islamic forces so only strong Islamic soceity(do not mean like Saudi) can encounter these annihilated forces.

I think model that turkey followed would be much better. They can now be the model for other countries.

The much-talked waterbus service was launched yesterday on the Gabtoli-Sadarghat route aiming to ease the city's nagging traffic situation.

However, environmentalists and experts fear that movement of waterbuses on the way would be hampered by bridge and small boats.

Poribesh Bachao Andolon Chairman Abu Naser Khan said that during the rainy season, waterbuses would find it difficult to pass under the Basila Bridge.

But Golam Mostafa Kamal, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) chairman, denied the claim.

Two waterbuses, Turag and Buriganga, will operate every day on the 16-kilometre long route via Kholamura and Swarighat from 7:00am to 6:00pm every one and a half hours.

Each waterbus with 35 seats cost Tk 55.75 lakh and will be using 28 litres of fuel to move at a maximum speed of 22.8 kilometres per hour, a statement from BIWTC said.

From Sadarghat to Gabtoli, the fare has been fixed at Tk 30 while from Sadarghat to Swarighat, Swarighat to Kholamura and Kholamura to Gabtoli Tk 10.

Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan yesterday inaugurated the service.

The minister as the chief guest said Bangladesh and India would work together to construct different types of inland vessels in order to develop the country's river transport system.

“Indian investors have shown interest to work with Bangladeshi ship building companies. If we work jointly, it will be easier to construct better quality vessels and provide better service to passengers,” he said.

He also said another 10 waterbuses would be introduced on this route within the next three months to make the project more effective and popular.

Bangladesh's Nitol-Niloy Group and Indian Merolyn Engineering Works Pvt Ltd will jointly construct the waterbuses, he mentioned.

Emphasising the importance of restoring navigability of inland waterways, the minister said the government will procure nine locally assembled dredgers by December.

He blamed the BNP-Jamaat government for crippling the country's river transport system saying, “They did not take any effective measures for river dredging or other developments. Rather they stopped the development works taken by the previous Awami League government in 1996-2000.”

Water Bus!

AL has introduced a new turtle-like-speedy-waterbus because of the extreme traffic congestion in Dhaka! An Indian company will supply more Water Bus, lol.

I actually think it's good idea to introduce water bus. Dhaka is surrounded by river which is all most unlikely for any other mega city. If we can clean the rivers then this can be very fruit full for Bangladesh as tourism will increase.

Another solution for Dhaka hell bent traffic congestion is that we must build circular road around Dhaka.

Bangladesh already has well establish ship building industry so I fail to understand how the **** India come in picture. Can't Awami Munafiq dalal think without India's involvement.

The popularity of the Bangladesh government led by Sheikh Hasina has taken a beating over price rise, power shortage and perceptions of graft, a survey conducted on completion of her 18 months in office said.

The prime minister's popularity has dipped, although nearly a half (49 percent) of the 3,000 people surveyed preferred her than to her rival, former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

The government 'looks to lose much of its shine with fewer people seeing the country moving in the right direction. Also, fewer people are satisfied with the government', The Daily Star newspaper that collaborated with Nielsen in an opinion poll said Sunday.

This is the third survey and a comparison of the three shows that 'less people now think the government had well managed the issue of price inflation than they thought 18 months ago. But more think the issue was poorly managed'.

Bangladesh is experiencing one of its worst power shortages. The number of people who think that power and gas supply are key issues has risen four times from six percent early last year.

On returning to power after nine years, Hasina has pursued many political issues through the judiciary.

The survey reveals that more people now consider the judiciary as 'politically biased' than they did when the government came to power. Concurrently 'fewer people think judiciary as independent'.

The government has pushed for the trial of its opponents in graft cases and is conducting trial of 'war criminals' - those who attacked unarmed civilians during the 1971 freedom movement.

It has also pursued a drive against terrorism and religious extremism.

The government also fared poorly on two more vital issues - corruption and the role of the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC), a state agency.

The number of people who think corruption has increased has increased quite dramatically. Also, the number of people who took a negative view of the ACC has doubled in the last 18 months, the survey showed.

Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party 'seems to have recovered slightly its image in the last one and a half years. A less number of people take a negative view of the opposition and a larger portion take a positive view', the survey said.

Indians have no say in what Bangladesh is or what Bangladesh want's to become.Atleast us internet warriors and common citizens don't.We do wish that you come out of the problems that you face,with your own leaders proving the roadmap and help that any country wishes to give you.Hindi movies/satellite culture isn't doing anything bad,its just keeping the sub continent together the way it is geographically and culturally meant to be,but unfortunately religion has broken apart. Poverty alleviation is a big problem for all of us,not just you.We need to bring more parity to our poor people.Sound economic policies,and more trade with your neighbours will take you a long way.I never thought Bangladesh had any identity crisis?

Indians has turned this thread into what indians wants Bangladesh to be. What can Bangladeshis say in crowrd of more than billion indian wishes? Well thats the challenge but coming out of is the key to solving many problems in Bangladesh. But unless "deuice" generation of Bangladesh can not think beyond hindi movie/settalite tv culture and not duped by cheap "digital deception", status quo in poverty and rest of our problem will continue.

But core of our solution is stand by Bangladeshi (NOT "bengali") identity and build upon the values of that identity.

Is there any well and affordable "Health Insurance Policy" offered by any company in BD which we can see in developed countries? I think government and private companies should work for offering international standard Health Insurance Policy to the people.

My suggesations are as follows:

@ At present we donnot have our constitution. Which one to follow, the one made in 1972 or the present one ? The 5th and 7th amendment is already declared illegal by the court. So, the prime job is to make our constitution alright along with the oppossition members.

@ We must make a very good relation with Mynmar and start constructing link road with Mynmar finally it should link with China.This will help us in all aspects including military aids.

@ We should forget all these nuisanse fake war time criminal trial. This is purely politically motivated.
@ Simaltenously we must also maintain a cordial relation with India. All commercial pacts with India should be at par.

@ Transit may be given to India less military items with proper transit fee.

@ Power may be purchased from India but at the same time we should be extremely careful that in times of crisis it might be cut off any time. In that case an alternative arrangement to be made.

@ We must maintain a good relation with Pakistan and other muslim countries. We should remember that whatever sofar we have developed it was due to the Middle East Aid, no India no USSR/Russia. Russia and India helped us only for the initial period of re-construction.

@ Foreign remmitance and garments industries are the key sources for our foreign exchange earing. Especial attention to be given in this sector. A special force to created for the maintenance of garment sectors. The govt has already thinking in that line.

@ We should stopped un-neccissarily blaming Pakistan for their mis-deeds of 1971. We have spoken enough. Now the time has come for mutual trust and development.

@ We should also to look east like the previous govt which they miserably failed.

@ Our country should neither be secular nor fundamentalist, it should be in between. Special care should be taken so that our country does not fall under the hand of fundamentalist.

@ We should not encourage any sort of militants in Northern East India. Let them fight what ever they can.

No ! Never ! I was in Turkey, it is mockery of Islamic country. You know even they donnot allow the govt officials to offer "Jumma Prayer", it is even waste than India.
