as i said there is no security issue wat so ever i think by unpleasant things he meant storms and wild animals...

Thanks- I will do a lot of research before I go. In my experience, travel advisories and such, at least, tend to be overly paranoid- but I see your point.

As an aside, I still haven't been to Turkey- which is something I intend to correct.

This is not paranoid. I know somebody who went to Pakistan. He was waiting for an armed escort to cross a dangerous region with a bus. He missed that so he had to take the next. He later heard that the missed bus he wanted to take was ambushed and the people were dead. I'm just saying you have to inform yourself well where you want to go. Hell, if you want to go without a plan, that is fine with me too. That is not how I would do it.

I entirely agree. I wasn't saying you were paranoid, I meant that outside perceptions of a country's safety, particularly travel advisories, tend to be paranoid. I also agree on the need for research, while I enjoy travel, I certainly don't have a death wish (or a desire for an extended term in a foreign prison!).
