Soldier marches to tree plantation record

A Pakistan Army soldier created a new world record by planting 18,866 saplings within 23 hours and 30 minutes.

Lance Naik Mian Yousaf Jamil a resident of Wazirabad who is commissioned in the Pakistan Army, broke the record of Canadian citizen Ken Chaplin, who holds the previous record for planting 15,170 plants in 24 hours in 2001.

Minister for Environment Hameedullah Jan Afridi and Corps Commander Mangla Ghulam Mustafa congratulated Jamil over his feat. They travelled to Lori village near Gujranawala and awarded special prize to the world record holder.

In July 2009, Pakistan received a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records in acknowledgment of planting as many as 541,176 mangroves trees in a day on 800 acres of land at Keti Bunder, District Thatta.

The government announced awards for planting maximum trees by organizations and individuals during the Monsoon Tree Plantation season which kicked off on August 10.

The Ministry of Environment also set the target to plant 45.5million trees during the monsoon campaign, one of the launched every year to enhance forest cover to the extent agreed to meet Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Dhubri (Assam): In an exemplary and unprecedented initiation actions the troops of 21 JAT Regiment under Red Horns Division had endeavoured to make a Guinness World Record in tree plantation in which 300 persons had planted 447 874 saplings in a cycle of 24 hours on 12th June 2009 to 13th June 2009 at Shrigram Reserve Forest, Dhubri, Assam.

The world record attempt by the army unit commenced at 3 PM on 12th June, continued throughout night and finally culminated at 24 hours cycle by successfully planting 5 lac saplings by 300 soldiers of 21 JAT Regiment.

Preparations for this large scale plantation started about ten months ago with the efforts of acquiring land from forest authorities.

The required land was prepared by the soldiers of army achieving the desired aim of breaking the previous world record made by Forestry Division of Durango (Maxico) of planting 3,48,000 saplings.

But I think that record is also broken....

It is already broken.

On July 15, 2009, one just truly consequential record was created when a team of 300 volunteers in Pakistan planted 5,41,176 mangrove tree saplings in the back waters of Arabian Sea near Keti Bandar.

I was talking about that particular record that you were talking about by the Bharati army. Anyways we will definitely try to break these records too. We just have to plant more than 7.50 lakh saplings in just 12 hours.

The one plantation done by milk plant isn't a world record.

Lance Naik Mian Yousaf Jamil of Pakistan Army has made a new world record by planting 20101 sapling in 24 hours and qualified for Guinness Book of World Record. In the process, Lance Naik Mian Yousaf Jamil travelled over 35 Kilometers in a knee bent position.

It is worth mentioning here that Lance Mian Yousaf Jamil has made the record of planting in the presence of Guinness Book of World Record Officials.

Lance Naik Mian Yousaf Jamil joined Pakistan Army in year 2000 in an Artillery Regiment. He hails from Rahim Yar Khan and has done Masters in Punjabi.

Lieutenant General Ghulam Mustafa, Corps Commander who was present on the occasion, highly appreciated the Lance Naik Mian Yousaf Jamil and promoted him to the rank of Havildar.
