This is the new Sniper Platform the US Army is switching to now for all of its Sniper Units including the Marines. Its the Knight's Armaments SRM110-SASS 7.62mm Sniper. I have also fired the AW 7.62mm and AW50 cal rifles from Accuracy International of UK. Both of these Sniper are very nice and accurate up to 800 - 1200m. Also had a chance to fire the Draganov in Darra few years back, good Russian rifle indeed and very very reliable!

I know its not in widespread service but South Africa does produce the NTW 20 wich is like the old anti tank rifles of WW2.

This particular rifle can be chambered for the Russian 14.5mm rounds used with the KPV machine gun on the BTR APC series.

Not very portable but awesome firepower.

It depends on the operator what kind of sniper weapon is needed of that operation.

If it is long range targets against enemy personal or light amour target my choice will be m82 or any 50 cal rifle.(when operator can effort overt operation)

If operation demands covert approach then psg-1 with subsonic ammunition any suppressed sniper weapon. (So enemy can not detected)

If operation demand multiple enemy personal targets than m110 or dragunov.(simply because of fire rate given in any semi automatic weapon) .

For the assassination of enemy commanders, weapon operator etc sniper rifle I use will be m40,m24,awm etc (just because violent explosion of Semi automatic weapons can be seen and operation need only one or two shot with maximum accuracy which is only provided by semi automatic weapon).

Pakistan make the HK PSG 1 under licence and use the following weapon systems around the country:

Remington 700 (.308)

Accuracy International AW Sniper Rifle 7.62/.308

Styer SSG Sniper System

Barrett M107 .50 Cal Anti-Material Rifle.

And a few others that are just variants of the above systems

Yes we do, the designation you have quoted is a UK Designation it is referred to as the AW Sniper System and is manufactured by Accuracy International, picture included:

There's no such thing as the "best rifle". Each rifle is designed for different combat environments and purposes.


My knowledge and experience with snipers is limited to video games. Personally I LOVE using the .50 cal. there's simply no comparison, it really gets your target down in one shot. but of course there are some drawbacks, its really heavy to carry and there's massive recoil.

Currently having fun shooting down the juggernauts with .50 cal in COD MW2

My personal favourite, the Accuracy International L115A3. Personally I'd say its the best sniper rifle in the world, but thats because its the one I feel more comfortable with and I've fired many many rifles from around the world.

L115A3 for me. Very lucky in my job.
