A deputy commander of the Iranian Army said the infantry and rapid reaction units of the Army are planned to be equipped with advanced smart equipment. “Since manpower is the main asset of military organizations, it is important for us to protect it,” Rear Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Mousavi told the Tasnim News Agency. “Accordingly, the provision of individual equipment needed to help our manpower to carry out its missions in the best and safest way is on the agenda of the Army,” he added.

Rear Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Mousavi went on to say that, to that end, the subsidiary organizations of the Defense Industries Organization and knowledge-based companies have taken good steps. “We are going to provide our forces with smart individual equipment to counter threats,” Rear Admiral Mousavi said. Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underlined that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations. Back in February, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program. “Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on February 18.

Armies should do everything they can to protect their soldiers. Until recently (pre-WoT) The Pakistani army was equipped like a 50's era army. Western armies have enabled their infantry through training and equipment to become game changers rather than cannon fodder. Access to air support (especially UAV's and UCAV's), ability to coordinate artillery strikes, training to become coordinators on the battlefield rather than just a pawn.

I think before I started worrying about "smart equipment" I`d make sure that every member of all the various branches of the military[army+irgc] had basic standard equipment ie modern kevlar helmets, modern body armor, load carriers etc.. and all of this to a single common set of specs/standard types, because as it stands now you have a literal dogs dinner of types, thats assuming that they`re actually equipped with all of these things in the first place, because it seems that many arent.

It looks good,however....some of the pics in this post are older ones that showed new weapons and equipment that certainly looked good, the 12th pic for instance showed 2 new types of assault rifles, yet in so many cases nothing more was ever heard about them again. This is the problem, iran has a vibrant and capable small arms industry but without some serious government backing and more importantly orders most of this stuff just winds up as prototypes/one offs,or small production runs that basically dont amount to anything part from photo ops.
In addition you also have the different procurement policies and cultures of the irgc vs the regular military which just further complicates an already complicated situation, sadly it might not be possible to enforce standardisation between these two groups which just leads to yet more waste and inefficiency.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know which branch of the military this SARV program is run by,ie regular military or irgc?

Looks great, the sunni fanatics above must feel stupid now
Too broke to implement them all. The only reason the U.S. can do this for all troops is because their economy is much bigger. I read somewhere that Iranian soldiers didint even have Kevlar vests. And saying Sunni is stupid. They could be Christians or Jewish. They might just despise Iran as I do. I bet the only people who will actually get that gear are special forces or IRGC members.

More nonsense drivel.

Many countries implement body armour and radio communications around the world. This isn’t the 1970’s, this type of equipment isn’t profoundly expensive, especially in a low cost of production country like Iran.

The average Hezbollah soldier which relies on Iran for funding is highly equipped, yet Iran which funds Hezbollah can’t afford to fund its own soldier? Sound logic there.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. IRGC personell tend to elect to not wear body armour (see Syria Civil war). I mean if Chechen Terrorists in Syria can be just as well equipped as a US soldier than that should tell you something. It comes down to individual soldier preference in wartime as well.

Iran is undergoing a modernization effort and outside of wartime scenarios many soldiers elect not to wear body armour. You even see this happen in US soldiers in certain circumstances.

So yes war games, military base patrols, and parades are not a good indication of what the average soldier will wear in war time.
