High value added industries don't bother China(unless supplying to Chinese domestic market), because wage matters little in those industries.
Small U.S. Manufacturers Give Up on 'Made in China'

Having some experience with the whole outsourcing business...what these small companies don't seem to understand is that Chinese manufacturers have business senses just like any other manufacturers.
If you're a small company going to China chances are they will treat you as second priority because you don't give them high enough volume to justify the ultra low price often asked of them. Even Chinese manufacturers don't go recklessly cheap for everybody.
Its far better for the Chinese companies to either do it themselves and then attempts to sell directly to the retailers, or wait until a bigger and more established company comes by for the same product but with the promise of higher volume and profit.
I've seen many of these small companies eventually running into a wall once their niche products encounters competition from Chinese companies or Chinese product selling to bigger companies...bigger companies have professional translators and have no problem dealing with the "hassles" when far more money is at stake. They also have the benefit of economy of scale which can push the prices lower than small companies can.
