Small plane crashes near oil refinery in Korangi

IT WAS A BIRD HIT

SUCH THINGS HAVE HAPPENED MANY TIMES IN AVIATION HISTORY.

100% AZ - and this is how operators are trained, to get images - that they will need when it flies over enemy airspace.

Maybe Pakistan should get some help from China to make UAV.

There are two versions of Uqab UAV. One is tactical version of UAV with the flying range of 150km onwards while other one will be a strategic version of the UAV which can go up to 350km onwards. Both tactical and strategic versions of UAV systems can undertake a pre-programmed mission or can be piloted by the Air Vehicle Controller. The strategic version of the UAV has the capability to adapt to the change of mission during the flight. It can transmit information and data through ground control station and can even change the flight path, height and speed according to the situation. There were three companies that competed and offered their UAS systems for the tactical version of Uqab UAV to Pakistan army.

Hope there wasn't much damage done to oil site ... anyhow these things can happen.

.
i'd definitely be worried if UAVs were flying into oil facilities indeed!

but in this case, no, it's just an accident.

.
Why were they flying over No-Fly Zone or NFZ is not for UAV's?

God Forbid if some major incident happens it could be huge human & financial loss.

.
Presumably it was a routine training mission gone wrong since the PN UAV Squadron is based at PNS Mehran. No worry, GIDS will replace the destroyed bird in no time.

.
who knows, thus far....

either it went off-path or perhaps they were trying to get aerial coverage of the facility itself? Keep an eye on things?

lets see

Thank God, no damage to the neighborhood. I think Koorangi has sizeable population and any fire at refinery could lead to large scale destruction.

Does your mama or chacha lives in Korangi that you know so much about it? Its an industrial area FYI.

As of my knowledge PN has not inducted any UAVs into its fleet.
however, it was (is) evaluting various UAVs.... with this incident it is clear that they are using Uqabs (probably evolution came to an end)
please correct me if i'm wrong.

PN is looking for the ship borne version of UAVs, Uqab can be used for surveillance from the land based air bases to be launched, carry out their mission over sea and then come back. Also, navy has other areas to defend also on the land, where marines are used.

Thus Uqab is a very well suited platform for them to carry out multi missions for the Navy from its land based assets. What PN lacks is something which can be launched from the ship and be recovered at the ship also.

I got the point, thanks for clarification.
