No automation, no standards (quality or safety), no energy management systems, no industrial engg to make the process efficient and smooth....
imagine what we can achieve if the idiot, set-in-their-ways saiths understand the importance of these things.

also, need more small electronics assembly lines. some are already being operated unofficially, by the types of surmawala etc. who assemble chinese stuff and sell on installments.
Never under value or put down these small workshops. They are very talented people and provide employment to millions and are a hedge against imports and inflation with minimum of resources. No doubt they can and should be improved but don’t look down upon them. Chinese were no different 20/30 years ago. If we support them the future industry leaders will come out of these people and they already have.

A whole truck can be literally build from parts made by these small workshops.

Literally this. You can get high quality replacement parts for foreign cars, yet not a single fully indigenous car is being built.

I wonder if its just an issue of scale or if its because no one is willing to invest into it?

Unfortunately, no one is interested in investing in these small workshops and making them part suppliers for indigenous Truck manufacturing or any other type of automobile.
But still, huge potential and very talented peoples working in these small workshops.
