Move more reinforcements to Pak border which will make them move troops from the FATA area and the TTP will take care of the rest.

In these times when Pak needs a peaceful eastern frontier to take the war to the western areas, this madness happens.

The munni mohan singh govt needs to authorize the BSF to retaliate with adequate force and place the violators in their proper place.

Indian, Pakistani troops battle on Kashmir border

Tuesday, June 19th 2012, 04:15 PM

Jammu, June 19 — Pakistani troops again opened fire on Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) on the Jammu and Kashmir border, triggering gun battles for about two hours, officials said Tuesday.

The Pakistani firing on the Indian Army's forward positions took place in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district around midnight Monday.

Pakistani troops have been regularly firing on Indian posts along the LoC that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

The officials said the firing had escalated tensions in the area, causing a scare among the locals.

According to army sources, the Pakistani troops have been violating the ceasefire in the region for the past one week. India has lost two soldiers and two more were critically injured in the firing.

The latest provocation began around midnight Monday and lasted for more that two hours, the officials said.

The Indians retaliated in a "restrained matter" to avoid any escalation.

The situation has reportedly further worsened because Pakistan has not responded to the Indian call for a flag meeting, which is normally held to defuse tensions.

[Indian] Army seeks flag meeting over ceasefire violations along LoC

PTI
Jammu, June 19, 2012

The Army has sought a 'Brigade Commander' level flag meeting with its Pakistan counterpart along the Line of Control (LoC) in the wake of killing of two jawans and injuries to four others in firing during ceasefire violations by Pakistan troops.
"We have sent a hotline message to Pakistan Army and called for a Brigade commander-level flag meeting to discuss the issues of increasing incidents of firing and ceasefire violations in Poonch sector", a senior Army officer told PTI.

The message has been sent to Pakistani authorities Monday and they were asked to convey the timings of the meeting within two days, he said.

The issue is serious in view of the fact that two jawans have been killed and four others injured in direct firing by Pakistan troops, unseen in the past, the senior official said.

The two jawans, including one of BSF, were killed and four others injured in the firing by Pakistan troops in four ceasefire violations since June 11 to June 16 along the LoC in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Usually, a commandant-level flag meeting is held on the LoC to sort out the differences, but this time we have called for Brigade Commander level meeting, he said.

Earlier, Pakistan had cancelled Commandant (Col) level meeting on Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point in Poonch on June 16 without assigning any reason.

Pakistani troops this time directly fired on Army troops guarding the borderline in Poonch unlike in the past when they used to target posts, the official said adding it was a serious issue.

Pak troops again violate truce on LoC; [Indian] army seeks flag meeting

HT Correspondent , Hindustan Times
Rajouri , June 19, 2012

In yet another incident of truce violation in the past six days, Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked firing with small automatic weapons on Kranti and Kirpan posts in Krishna Ghati sector at 10am on Tuesday.
According to defence personnel, no loss of property or life was reported in the firing which continued till 11.30am.

Pakistan troops have been firing intermittently with heavy guns, mortars , RPGs, light and heavy machine guns etc, since June 11 when PK Mishra, BSF constable was killed by them at Karanti post with sniper rifle.

"Pakistan again violated the ceasefire today (Tuesday) for more than half hour with small automatic weapons in Krishna Ghati area. Our troops exercised restraint and did not fire back. No loss or injury was reported from the area. No flag meeting was planned for today" said defence public relations officer RK Palta.

On June 13, Pakistan troops targeted the Kirpan and Kranti posts from Daku, Battle, Roza and pimple posts, in which havildar Harvinder was killed. On the same day, Indian troops retaliated and reportedly caused heavy losses to Pakistan posts in the area facing Krishna Ghati.

“After effective retaliation by the Indian troops, Pakistan authorities in reaction suspended cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade from Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch district. To defuse more tension on the LoC being created after truce violation in the last few days, the Indian army contacted its counterpart to hold a flag meeting. However, Pakistan army officers did not turn up for the meeting on June 17. Moreover, Pakistan authorities also stopped cross-LoC bus service from Chakan-da-Bagh which happened for the first time due to tension on the border.

The continuous heavy to small arms firing since June 11 has left people of the areas falling near LoC and situated in-between cobra fence and LoC worried.

“As the Pakistan army has suffered a heavy loss in the retaliatory firing by the Indian troops, the Pakistan army may violate truce agreement, which is routine before for a flag meeting, by striking either in Poonch or Rajouri districts” said sources in intelligence agencies.

To face any challenge from across the border, Bofors and guns with more than 80-km range have been stationed at both the districts and troops are also on high alert.

As the local army formation failed to get any response from their counterpart in Pakistan to hold meeting to defuse the tension on the LoC, the ministry of defence , as per intelligence sources , will now take up the matter with higher authorities in Pakistan.

Are Indians making up false casualties figures again?

The political diplomatical channels are busy meeting on resolving serious issues like creek, siachen, economy incl bilateral trade etc etc.

The offensive by firing when there are currently no tensions between the 2 nations is bound to happen when there is an Army who is overly obsessed with derailing any peace process which harms their very existence.

Happened before and will happen again.

Well they need to do something for the clap boys since they are at the wrong end facing periodical embarrassment on whatever they do and whatever they dont do and whatever they couldnt do.

Unfortunately..
the hot heads on both sides are going loco..
Instead of going on this firing spree..
PA should have called the flag meeting asap..

Just suppose.. for the benifit of the doubt.. that infact there are militant outfits.. firing at the IA to provoke them to fire and generate a response from the PA..then somebody like Hafiz Saeed is probably laughing with glee.
A flag meeting should have been called ASAP.. even it meant taking a chopper n crossing the LOC to meet up.

One good thing is both Indian and Pakistani diplomats have agreed to not let the dialogue channel close - no matter what, even if another Mumbai type attack happens.

I dont think kayani is responsible for this one.

I dont think kayani is responsible for this one.

I think they want to heat it up to get the US off their backs and also to aid infiltrators in crossing into India.

Detailed account of June 19th, 9th day of conflict, up until now three Indian soldiers killed and few critically wounded.

Both the sides are accusing each other for the crisis. Indian army says it started on June 13 afternoon when Pakistani gunners targeted Nangi Tekri posts in Krishna Ghati sector at around 2.15 pm. Rajinder Singh, one of the soldiers was injured in the attack.

When reinforcement was sent to evacuate the soldier to the hospital, Pakistani army did not permit his evacuation by increasing the small arm shelling. Three soldiers - PP Bakar, Jai Parminder and Balwinder Singh, were reported injured in this attack. Singh died instantly and remained on the border for the night.

The fire was retaliated and the exchanges continued till 7 pm. Army says the firing is aimed at pushing in infiltrators, a process that has become very difficult because of the fence. In a fortnight, army spokesman from Jammu said, Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire four times in Poonch area alone. A few days back, the troops detected a serious attempt by three militants to infiltrate from Janghar area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri.

The other side is also accusing India of opening the fire and attacking the civilians. Police officials in Rawlakot belt have claimed firing and shelling on Battal village where at least two civilians were injured.

Only dialogue india understand are propaganda and barrel of gun. How could anyone talk to india?

Pakistan doing good job protecting its border and its troops. We need to learn some lesson.

Do you folks realise what this does ? It turns Indian public opinion against your country. It impedes trade efforts, bilateral relations and everything else that have been going right.

You are your own worst enemies.

As if indians were in love with Pakistan before this incident!
