KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced closing airspace over the northern areas of the country on Sunday, forcing the Pakistan International Airlines to reschedule its flights to Gilgit, Skardu and Kabul.
This is the second time in four days that the CAA has close the airspace over the northern areas without assigning any reason. The last time the airspace was closed on Wednesday.
Responding to Dawn queries, PIA spokesperson Danyal Gilani said that times of the flights had been revised.
The new timings are: Islamabad-Gilgit flight (PK 607) will depart at 5.15am (local time) and Gilgit-Islamabad flight (PK 608) will depart at 7am. Islamabad-Skardu flight (PK 451) will depart at 5.15am and Skardu-Islamabad flight (PK 452) will depart at 7am. Islamabad-Kabul flight (PK 249) will depart at 8.50am and Kabul-Islamabad flight (PK 452) will depart at 10.45am.
The spokesperson said the revised flight timings were only for one day.
