Six reasons why India should join Russian air strikes in Syria

Well they should join As this could be business as usual ,First you kill muslims in Kashmir every day ,Now you will kill in Syria other than ISIS

Instead of always being a bystander during events of global import, it’s time India showed some spine
and acted like a responsible power.
Warplanes from multiple countries are screaming through the skies over Syria. On the ground, terrorist
groups are nibbling at Syria’s extremities. It is an environment that India should jump right into. Here
are six good reasons why India needs to send its well-trained and ferocious military to defend
beleaguered Syria.

India needs to show support for an ally
Currently, Russia is conducting airstrikes against ISIS, al-Qaeda and CIA-backed terror groups all by
itself. The Russian Air Force has brought a strong detachment of jet fighters and bombers to Syria, but
the fact remains that it is a solo act. Iran has provided shock troops to fight on the ground, but no
aircraft. India should send at least a squadron of jets for joint air strikes with the Russian Air Force
against terror groups. This is a matter that concerns India’s only strategic partner. When your friend is
in a fight, you enter the fray.

India’s counter-terror expertise can be a game changer
India’s experience in counter terrorism could play a decisive role in combating ISIS as well as CIA
supported terrorist groups such as the so-called Free Syrian Army. The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the
Indian Army have been fighting extremists in Kashmir and eastern India for decades. India also stamped
out separatism in Punjab after a take-no-prisoners campaign that lasted nearly 20-years. Such valuable
counter terror experience is precisely what Russia would appreciate having on its side in the Syrian war.

India’s armed forces will gain invaluable experience
Significant events are happening over Syrian airspace and beyond. Turkish Air Force F-16s that
attempted to come close to the action got a taste of Russian airpower when MiG-29s interceptors –
providing top cover – achieved radar lock on the F-16s. Turkey’s military admitted that as many as
eight Turkish F-16 jets patrolling the Turkish-Syrian border were “painted” by a MiG-29 as well as
surface-to-air missile systems based in Syria in two separate incidents.
This is an eerie replication of the 1999 Kargil War when Indian MiG-29s – which were providing top
cover to IAF jets targeting Pakistani intruders – achieved missile locks on Pakistan Air Force F-16s,
forcing the latter to disengage from the battle.
The airspace over Syria would be an environment that India’s MiG-29 and Sukhoi-30MKI pilots would
relish. Not only would they be right at home in the Syrian cauldron, Indian pilots would also gain
battlefield experience in a 21st century environment involving western air forces. The IAF would also be
able to test its ability to quickly airlift Indian troops into a war zone.
After the bombardment by Russian and Indian aircraft, the Indian Army would savour the prospect of
mopping up the remnants of the ISIS as well as CIA-backed rebel groups.

Fight them in Syria, not at home
There will be plenty of naysayers who will argue India should not enter the mess because they fear the
country will end up on the ISIS radar. But the point is to fight – and exterminate – ISIS in its home
base than in India. ISIS should not be given any breathing space which would allow them to expand out
of the Middle East. India – like Russia – faces a serious threat from these media and technology savvy
terrorist organisations that are able to radicalise its citizens via the internet. India, therefore, has every
right to destroy ISIS in its breeding grounds before it becomes a threat at home.

India’s stock will rise globally
Despite sending spectacular missions to the Moon and Mars and becoming an IT superpower, India is
still known as the land of holy men, tigers and Gandhi. What the country needs is an image makeover.
If India sends its armed forces to Syria, its stock will rise globally as one of the few countries able to
hit the ISIS. We are talking about fighting the world’s most vicious rebel group, whose terror has
achieved the impossible of making al-Qaeda look like a moderate bunch.
There is an ancient Indian saying – the brave shall inherit the earth. India’s leadership needs to bite the
bullet.

India’s entry will be a landmark geopolitical event
The Russian airstrikes in Syria could be the beginning of a more assertive BRICS group. Until now it
was the West which was enforcing no-fly zones and dictating terms. Now the Russian side is doing it –
not against small, defenceless countries but against real terrorists who are a global menace. This is a
significant development because Russia is finally taking decisive military action and has received wide
support internationally.
Importantly, Russian air strikes against opponents of the secular Bashar al-Assad government have
decapitated American foreign policy in the Middle East. People in the Middle East have front row seats
to the wilting of American power in the face of a determined Russia.
India has rarely intervened outside the scope of the United Nations. The country is known as the
reluctant superpower because it rarely ventures into global hot spots. If India sends its mighty defence
forces to support Syria, it would have the weight of over 1.2 billion people saying no to terrorist groups
holding a peaceful and secular country to ransom.
This is history in the making – don’t sit it out.

not our fight

. .
I think india will remain neutral otherwise it is major shift policy of india and it has to pay for nato countries,U.S.A & others

.
As silly as it may sound, i would advocate for a joint Pak-India effort to destroy isis foothold in afghanistan.
And as far as syria is concerned, i think india would rather side with the US and UK rather than with russia.

LMAO....Which capabilities does India has to sustain such airstrikes far from its home soil?
Or you just want India to follow Russia, just so it can 'show' its a great power? lool India is nowhere close to that, better focus on improving your economy and people's low living standards.

This Great Game is between the U.S/France/Britain and Russia. India has no business in it to be honest.:pop:

.
Pathetic reasons.. We are not an imperialist country and have always never been an aggressive nation.

Besides, what benefits is this war going to give us. It's not like people are going to be grateful. In all such cases, the people first cry and beg for western support, then when they bomb and start attacking.. Stop attacking muslims!!! Accept Refugees now!!! Terrorist attacks for revenge!!!

Our foreign policy and standing is anti-imperialist and based on peace.. Buddha.. Gandhi.. Ashoka.. etc.. That's what we want to project.

Indians never had the "balls" to go out of india and fight. Read your history. All great powers of their times invaded india and ruled india.
"moaziz sarif, ap kay system main ya sahulat muyassar nahi hay".............. ap apnay mulk say bahir pangay lainay say baz rahain. warna apki lu*li kat de jay ge"

I have no words to express your idiocy..

About History.. In case of present day India (considering the territory), the cholas and Mauryas and Guptas etc have gone out repeatedly. Now as far "YOUR" history is concerned.. It's the place where every foreign invader has looted, pillaged and raped to no ends..

Do takke ki aukat hain nhi aur chale aaye dialoguebaazi ke liye.. Aap log bahut pehle se L*lli aur G*tiyon se khelne ke shauqeen hain. Pichw**da dikhaake nawaabi shauq poori karne ke bhi.. Humain isme koi interest nahi hain.. Jaake apne g*tiyon aur mohalle ke baaki bachhon ki g*tiyon ke saath khel lo aap.. Waise jab khelke pakk jayenge.. Tab aa jaaiye..

Nopes, india wont side with anyone. Does not suit our interest siding with either side.Besides whatever happens in syria does not matter to us, we are better mere spectator, with popcorn and our tv.

Afghanistan is of immense important to us, even then we dont pledge military support their, so syria is just out of question.

And joint india pakistan operaton in afghanista, it is just what you mentioned .... SILLY !

.
India would never oppose the United States. The United States is the puppet master to India's foreign policy.
Nothing you have said is supported by empirical evidence. India pursues her own strategic interests above all else.

. .
Actually many Indians are willing to be ISIS toilet cleaners. Most South Asians that join ISIS come from India or Bangladesh surprisingly, and not Pakistan

What role have fast jet airstrikes played in India's counter insurgency efforts? Exactly zilch. MOOT POINT.

India needs to show support for an ally

India is not a military ally of Russia in 2015, the past is the past and whilst India and Russia enjoy cordial ties there is no formal military agreement between the two and even if there was, Russia is hardly asking India for assistance.

Instead of always being a bystander during events of global import, it’s time India showed some spine
and acted like a responsible power.
The entire premise of this assertion is flawed. By this definition a nation is only a "responsible power" if they send their military to bomb others in far away lands? I reject this completely.

India’s armed forces will gain invaluable experience
Can be done at home (and is). An air-campaign of this nature is not going to provide that much utility where training and experience are concerned.

Fight them in Syria, not at home
To get to India ISIS have to go through Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan first- I don't think ISIS pose any such threat.

India’s stock will rise globally

Nonsense. Who will respect India for such airstrikes? Within days you'll have the BBC/Guardian running stories about Modi's misplaced priorities and faux "tough guy" routine.

Again, I reject the notion that international acclaim/respect is only achieved through "hard power". India's economic might and development of its people will impress the world far more than any military campaign- that is easy.

India’s entry will be a landmark geopolitical event
The Russian airstrikes in Syria could be the beginning of a more assertive BRICS group. Until now it

Russia is a power in decline (and in a massive way), how military operations in Syria relate to a more assertive BRICS grouping is beyond me. The same issues that have lead to the BRICS framework being an almost irrelevance will remain.

Will a military campaign in Syria change the fact that Russia is in recession, Brazil is stagnating, South Africa is nowhere and China is stumbling? Or that India and China have inherent conflicts of interest?

LMAO....Which capabilities does India has to sustain such airstrikes far from its home soil?
What capabilities, in your opinion, does India not have that it would need to sustain such airstrikes? It has the aircraft (fighters), it has the logistics, it has the diplomatic clout to get permissions where needed and it has the resources.

This Great Game is between the U.S/France/Britain and Russia. India has no business in it to be honest.:pop:

So, the UK whose Air force only has something like 6 Tornados (right at the end of their service lives by the way) just barely able to take part in these operations is in a better position than India? Russia has issues with capacity also- France and the US fair enough, but to elevate the UK above India is nonsensical and that too to state that the "great game" precludes India (let alone China) who is a power in ascendancy.
