Six children die in Afghan bomb blast | World | DAWN.COM

KABUL: At least six children and one man were killed when a bomb planted in a garbage bin exploded Friday in Tirin Kot, capital of Afghanistan’s southern province of Uruzgan, police said.

Four other children who were playing nearby were wounded, said spokesman Fardi Ayel.

“At around 3:00 pm today there was an explosion in Tirin Kot city, initial information we have is that six children and one man have been killed,” he said.

There was no obvious target for the bombing, although the home of a local police commander was nearby, he said.

Earlier in a day of violence in the war-weary country five Nato soldiers were killed in two roadside bomb blasts, also in southern Afghanistan.

RIP to the dead.. Terrorists will rot in hell eternally for this ...

RIP to the innocents.

The Afghan people should not forget the terrorists and their facilitators.

The terrorists are desperately trying to make their presence felt, and their cowardly ways are on display once again. The ones dead are innocent children and all because these terrorists cannot see the nation of Afghanistan prosper and live under peace. Our troops have long pushed them to the brink of collapse, and they are desperately trying to gain momentum against our forces. Unfortunately, they continue to prey upon innocent civilians and even children to spread panic and fear. The nation of Afghanistan is facing a bright future, and the proof lies in ANSF fast assuming the security responsibilities with the help of the US and NATO forces. These terrorists are well aware that their days are numbered, and soon they will have no choice but to drop their weapons and run for cover. Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences go to the parents and relatives of these innocent children killed in this inhumane act of terror.

Mr. Nevers, when you say terrorists I hope you are not referring to the Taliban, because they are not the enemy according to VP Biden.

Anyways RIP to the deceased.

RIP - to the innocent children, and may the perpetrators of the atrocity rot in hell.

Dear RazPak:

The US strongly condemns all terrorist activities, and our sacrifices in the region prove our stance against terrorism. We have seen one too many times where a statement from one of our officials is taken out of context, and then twisted and turned, and projected without its full meaning. So please let that not be the case here! Our stance in regards to peace negotiations with the Taliban remain the same. We support the Afghan-led peace negotiations with those who renounce violence, abandon their alliance with al-Qaeda, and agree to abide by the laws and constitution of Afghanistan, including respecting the rights of women and minorities.

That sounds like good news, but a few months ago Pakistan was under heavy scrutiny for having talks with the Taliban as well. Don't you see this as a double standard?

Rot in help is an understatement. R.I.P to thechildren.
