SIPRI: Pakistan New Defence Purchase in 2015

HQ 16 and HQ 9 would be real positive addition as it gives medium to high altitude defence capability to our forces.
But obviously no confirmation, we have to have rely on rumors and forums.
Anyways ....Nice development!

. .
I am not saying prefer HQ 16 over Aster.
If we already have those system in our inventory that is edge for us.

About Aster, yes, no doubt it is worth quality system and recently COAS observed that system during his visit to Italy.
So, may be plans are there to purchase these systems too.

.
So total 2 ATR72 aircrafts.
How I missed that? What are these? Any thing special about them?
Maritime patrol craft .. total 3 of them are in PN

HQ 16 and HQ 9 would be real positive addition as it gives medium to high altitude defence capability to our forces.
But obviously no confirmation,
HQ 16 is confirmed by officials

. .
The HQ-16 deal was signed in late 2014, around the time of IDEAS. The value was $220mn for the SAM and $40mn for IBIS-150 radars. As for HQ-9, Haris Khan on PakDef said the infrastructure to readily integrate them is there, he didn't say a deal has been signed on that front.

Any link to above claim?

The HQ16A or LY-80 is a Chinese-made ground-to-air defence missile system which was introduce in the Chinese armed forces in September 2011. This is a land based version of the HQ-16 system used in ships (and fired from VLS (Vertical Launch System) containers. The HQ-16A is based on a joint development of the Russian Buk-M1 (SA-11 'Gadfly') and Ural/Buk-2M (SA-17 'Grizzly') Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) systems, for use from mobile ground vehicles and later from ships. The HQ-16A is able to engage aerial targets at high altitude; the mid-range HQ-16 is also able to intercept very low-flying targets at a distance of up to about 40 kilometers, filling the gap between the HQ-7 short-range SAM and the HQ-9 long-range SAM systems. The HQ-16A missile can hit targets of an altitude from 400 to 10,000 meters.

HQ16 is not a surprise. Work was going on for it for quite some time.
But for HQ9?, well what I knew was that discussions started in 14, and by 15 Pakistan was readying or preparing for its deployment. I don't think the HQ9 is deployed yet, but it will soon be. I am not sure, but if its already operational then they must be some leased Chinese systems.

. .
why the hell did we buy these outdated short range torpedoes and that too in such high numbers for our subs which are supposed to serve for next 3 to 4 decades.we could have bought yu 6 or yu 9 if we wanted to go all Chinese both torpedoes are operationaland are great torps instead we went for bloody yu 4 1960s era torpedoes dammit
@MastanKhan @Bilal Khan 777 @rockstar08 @Rashid Mahmood @Penguin

Shhhhh... you don't say that....
china own 42% of air frame remember we have to pay them their share.

I know we bought HQ16. HQ 9 was a surprise for me.

HQ-9 has been guarding Pakistan's Strategic Installations for more than a decade now. It was bought in a very hush hush deal long time back during Mush's Era, was largely meant to counter and protect our Assets from that Beast SU30MKI.

Do you have solid proof for your statement?
